Full Job Description

As a Technical Auditor, you will carry out a combination of on-site and desktop audits of our members.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Auditor plays a pivotal role in the technical auditing and assessment activities for all the Competence and Compliance services, including:

  • Competence Assessment Standard (CAS) Audits

  • Business management Reviews (BMR's)

  • F-gas company compliance

  • Refcom Elite supplier and contractor evaluations


  • Your role as an Auditor is pivotal in ensuring the competence and compliance of our members, contributing to industry standards, and promoting excellence in the built environment. As our membership covers the UK, there is a requirement for travel as part of this role.,
  • Assessment of F-gas company audits on a monthly basis, to include initial assessment, identification and communication of non-conformities and client liaison.

  • Assessment of REFCOM Elite supplier conformity criteria and supplier liaison.

  • Assessment of Business Management Reviews (BMR) for BESA members.

  • On-Site technical assessment of members against the Competence Assessment Standard (CAS).

  • Timely, accurate recording and reporting of all evaluation activities.

  • Act as an ambassador for the Certification Schemes and the Association.

    NVQ Level 3 or higher in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to collaborate across functional areas.

  • Self-motivation and the ability to organise.

  • Excellent report writing skills.

  • Proficient IT skills - familiarity with the use of Microsoft Products essential.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of technical experts.


  • Willing to work towards appropriate qualifications.

  • Hold a full driving license and can travel within the UK., IRCA Lead Auditor qualification or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of the Building Safety Act.

  • Experience in auditing to similar standards.
