Full Job Description

We're looking for a Manager to lead our Grasshoppers team at Tong Garden Centre.

Our Grasshoppers play zone is a popular attraction for families especially over the summer holidays and festive season, because we deliver numerous fun and interactive play sessions and bespoke parties for children.

As a manager you'll be responsible for ensuring the team are delivering exceptional customer service, by overseeing the daily operations of the play area and effectively managing the front of house team and catering staff whilst overseeing cleanliness and ensuring all health and safety standards are being adhered to.

You will also be responsible for supporting and managing our annual events calendar including VR rides and Grotto experience. Our mission is to bring the wow factor and a magical experience for our customers, each year. The aim is to go above and beyond., As a Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Planning, communicating and delivering the Grass Hoppers strategy across the whole business.

  • Working with the Group Play Manager to plan 6 months in advance on marketing campaigns, seasonal flux in business and seasonal activities.

  • Ensuring all operational processes e.g. rotas, parties and play sessions are delivered to maximum efficiency.

  • Conducting regular motivational and inspiring team meetings to ensure we have consistent communication with the teams.

  • Working with P&C to ensure we have the right people in the right roles who are well trained, engaged and motivated.

  • Monitoring team behaviours and performance, talking appropriate action promptly when necessary

  • Plan capacity of Grass Hoppers sessions to maximise revenue in advance, taking into account factors such as the weather, school holidays and seasonal impact

  • Deal with customer complaints should these be escalated from the supervisors

  • Manage and embed Grotto or other activities procedures, ensuring all customers have a great experience, Develop, communicate and share the Grass Hoppers strategy across all relevant departments and colleagues

  • Efficiently and commercially manage the day to day running of Grass Hoppers

  • Oversee cleanliness, safety and checklist completion, adhering to company standards and food hygiene regulations

  • Hold regular team catch ups giving feedback, recognition, coaching and assessing training needs

  • Always be pushing for personal and team development

  • Ensure we have the right people in the right roles across Grass Hoppers who are well trained and supported to deliver their best performance

  • Ensure team adhere to all company policies and work in line with our Values and Behaviours

  • Monitor waste, stock levels, product lines and ensure accurate stocktakes are completed

  • Take ownership of any actions from the checklists eg faulty equipment, recommending appropriate actions

  • Has experience with budgeting and rolling out multiple projects.

  • Can work effectively under pressure, with a flexible approach to handing setbacks.

  • Pay: £28,000.00-£29,500.00 per year
