By using uCertify practice, learn and labs provided to you as part of your apprenticeship, you'll be able to prepare yourselves for the following exams:

  • CompTIA Cloud Essentials +


  • We are recruiting on behalf of TrustEd Schools where you will be based at Oldbury Wells School and gain valuable experience as a Level 3 Information Communications Technician, following the Support Technician pathway. We pride ourselves on the support we give our apprentices, you won't be left on your own to figure things out, we will support you throughout your apprenticeship journey together with your employer!

    About the Trust:
    TrustEd Schools is a Shropshire multi-academy trust looking after a family of local schools, consisting of 5 secondaries and 4 primaries.     What you will be doing:
    An Information Communications Technology (ICT) Technician provides support to internal and/or external customers, by using tools or systems to problem solve and trouble-shoot routine and non-routine problems. This occupation supports clients/customers with their systems. They achieve this through monitoring and maintaining the systems and/or platforms to maximise productivity and user experience.
    We are seeking a proactive and technically adept apprentice to join our team, responsible for providing comprehensive technical support and assistance to both internal and external stakeholders. The role involves a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the smooth functioning of desktop computing environments and enhancing overall service efficiency.,
  • Provide on-site resolution of desktop computing issues, addressing hardware and software problems promptly and effectively.

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, laptops, wireless access points, telephony systems, and peripheral equipment according to established standards and guidelines.

  • Maintain accurate records of all assets, including updating asset management systems and tagging equipment/software as required, in adherence to asset management inventory processes.

  • Assist in the development of standard configurations, documentation, and procedures to streamline processes and improve efficiency.

  • Offer one-on-one assistance and guidance on desktop applications, including MS Office, Intranet, Internet, and printing, to maximize ICT utilization.

  • Ensure a visible presence in schools, proactively addressing ICT issues, and engaging with teachers to ensure smooth ICT operations.

  • Respond to on-call queues for technical support promptly and efficiently.

  • Conduct proactive checks to identify and resolve hardware issues throughout the school environment.

  • Provide technical support to customers via various communication channels, addressing IT issues in alignment with service level agreements.

  • Install and configure relevant software and hardware, such as mobile apps, printers, projectors, scanners, and cameras, to meet user requirements.

  • Administer security access requirements and permissions, including password resets, M365 and Active Directory, assist in the onboarding process for new starters and escalate issues as necessary.

  • Support the roll-out of system upgrades or new applications, ensuring smooth implementation.

  • Assist with the deployment of computers and mobile devices to end-users and ensure classrooms and equipment are well-maintained.

  • Provide instruction to end-users on the use of IT and AV facilities and services.

  • You will also have the opportunity to network with a range of other apprentices on our programme who can share ideas, offer suggestions and support. Our apprentices love being able to help each other!
    As one of our apprentices you will also have access to our online portal that will provide you with information and technical guidance, as well as links to the helpdesk to speak to technicians who can give real-time advice and support.

  • A passion for technology and a desire to learn and grow in a technical support role.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

  • Basic knowledge of desktop computing environments, hardware, and software.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required.

  • Ability to travel between sites (driving license and access to a vehicle)

    Monday to Friday- 37.5 hours per week.

  • Salary:
    £18,000 per annum
    Desired Qualifications:
    We require someone who is educated to GCSE standard English and Maths grade 4 (or above), or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.
    Expected Duration:
    15 months and 4 Months End Point Assessment
