Full Job Description

In this role you will be a Servant Leader and Coach for the Agile Release Train (ART), facilitating ART events, processes and execution, steering the ART and assisting Agile teams in delivering value. You will communicate with stakeholders, escalate impediments, help manage risk, and drive relentless improvement. The RTE will understand how to scale Lean and Agile practices, and the unique opportunities and challenges associated with facilitating and continuously aligning a large development program. You will participate in Lean-Agile transformation, coaching of leaders, teams and Scrum Masters in new processes and mindsets and will help configure SAFe to the organisation's needs, standardising and documenting practices.

What you'll do

  • Manage and optimise the flow of value through the Agile Release Train (ART) using various tools, such as the Program Kanban and other information radiators

  • Establish and communicate the annual calendars for Iterations and Program Increments (PIs)

  • Facilitate PI Planning readiness by fostering a Continuous Exploration process that drives the synthesis of a Vision, a Roadmap, and Backlogs, and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning events

  • Facilitate the PI planning event

  • Summarise Team PI Objectives into Program PI Objectives (the RTE) and publish them for visibility and transparency

  • Assist in tracking the execution of features and capabilities

  • Facilitate periodic synchronisation events, including the ART sync

  • Assist with economic decision-making by facilitating feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary

  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets

  • Help manage risks and dependencies

  • Escalate and track impediments

  • Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks

  • Improve the flow of value through value streams by improving and assessing the practices associated with DevOps and Release on

  • Demand in the Continuous Delivery Pipeline

  • Help drive the Lean User Experience (UX) innovation cycle

  • Understand and operate within Lean Budgets and ensure adherence to Guardrails

  • Facilitate System Demos

  • Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops

  • Accountable for PI outcome

  • Responsible for overall dependencies on other squads by aligning with other Scrum Masters and Scrum Specialists across Business and IT

  • Responsible for the implementation of SAFe methodologies within the Programme

  • Responsible for Iteration Planning and supporting Ways of working

  • Driving decisions on programme scope alignment with other in-flight transformations

  • Manages PI ceremonies as well as alignment sessions between different areas of the programme

    Leading SAFe

  • SAFe Scrum Master

  • SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager


  • SAFe Lean Portfolio Management(preferred) or equivalent in alternative agile framework

  • At least five years of experience in a mobile telecoms operator (preferred)

  • Strong track record in project or programme delivery

  • A working knowledge of the Vodafone CCS

  • CRM/billing platform (preferred)

  • Consummate facilitation skills

  • Strong stakeholder management skills:

  • Adept at building collaborative relationships with colleagues at all levels

  • Adaptable and resilient: positive attitude, enthusiastic and disciplined

  • Excellent presentation skills

    Salary: Excellent basic salary plus bonus and Vodafone benefits
