Full Job Description

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Systems Administrator to join our growing team in Liverpool. You will be responsible for the management, maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of LSTM's computer systems and servers.

As the Systems Administrator, you will actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions within the organisation and keep our IT systems secure and up to date. Your responsibilities will also include installing hardware and software and participating in research and development of products and solutions to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of the organisation.

As Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing IT service delivery, driving projects and implementing fully costed solutions to improve LSTM's systems and services.

  • Contributing towards medium and long-term transformation, leading the implementation of IT projects and developing effective communication flows and improved processes.

  • Proactively reviewing existing services and strategies, investigating and assessing emerging technologies for their suitability for the organization.

  • Developing knowledge and understanding of the latest security advice and apply fixes, updates, and patches to systems in a timely fashion.

  • Maintenance of system performance, monitoring solutions to proactively resolve any potential service delivery issues.

  • Managing Servers and Endpoints using tools such as MECM, InTune, Tanium and Jamf.

    The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills with the ability and interest in working as an operational interface within a fast-paced environment. Problem solving, time management, communication and organisational skills are paramount to the role., Possession of or studying towards BTEC Level 3 Diploma in IT or equivalent, ideally with possession of relevant Microsoft Certifications (MCSE, MCSA, MTA).

  • Evidence of up-to-date knowledge to keep abreast of changes within the industry, with a good working knowledge of Windows Server and Windows 10/11 Operating Systems, Microsoft Azure Services, M365 services, including Microsoft 365 apps for Enterprise, Exchange Online and Teams.

  • Backup solutions for on premise and cloud with experience of Microsoft 365 products and tenant administration (Exchange Online, Teams, OneDrive, etc.)

  • Experience with Windows Server Role Services (Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, IIS, Hyper-V, Remote Access, WDS & MDT, Windows Print services); Endpoint Protection and Security (AV, AM, EDR, OS Updates) and management solutions; and experience of Hypervisors/Hyperconverged solutions.

  • An ability to quickly learn and understand new technologies with an enthusiasm for the field and industry.

  • Flexible in approach whilst able to work effectively as both part of a team and individually.
