Full Job Description

We are seeking an Admissions Officer to work within Registry, a central department providing support with admissions to AUB's courses and working in close contact with the Student Recruitment and Marketing and International teams, as well as AUB's external partners.

You will be responsible for efficient processing of applications and admissions, with a particular focus on processing UK applications and providing high level operational knowledge of key databases and communication systems. The post will be expected to support processing of international applications and applications to the suite of postgraduate (online) courses, which are growing rapidly.

You will be required to work as part of a team of Admissions Officers supporting the overall work of the team and department.

You will provide information and advice to both potential and current applicants about our courses, so ideally will have knowledge of UK and international qualifications and an understanding of University admissions processes as well as an understanding of the issues facing international and distance learning students.

You will be able to use your initiative to accurately assess complex applications from students from a diverse range of countries and educational backgrounds. You must also be able to build and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally to deliver a smooth and timely application journey. This demanding, fast paced and customer focused role will require you to work accurately under pressure whilst applying and implementing agreed admissions criteria and procedures.

You must be able to organise and prioritise your own workload and work without direct supervision. You will be IT literate with a sound knowledge of Microsoft Office and have experience of using databases to a high level. You will be expected to deliver presentations to an audience of prospective applicants and their parents/carers at Open Days and similar events. You will be required to work a small number of Saturdays, to include Open Days and Confirmation and Clearing, for which time off in lieu will be given.

You will need excellent communication and customer service skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills as your duties will also include dealing with day-to-day enquiries from all applicants via phone and email or face to face. Ideally you will have experience working in a similar environment or role.

The role also requires you to support the wider work of the Registry team which includes: enrolment, assessing fee status and ensuring the data held within our student records database is robust.

In meeting your performance expectations, each year you'll have a salary increase in line with the grade of your role. As well as this there is an annual cost of living increase. AUB provides generous holiday entitlement, and you will be enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme (professional services staff) or the Teachers' Pension Scheme (academic staff) from day one of employment. Along with subsidised bus travel, cycle to work and annual savings schemes, our broad range of benefits can be explored on the AUB careers website https://aub.ac.uk/working-at-aub.
