Full Job Description

You will be responsible for delivering a range of marketing communications outputs to support the delivery of SBU and Group strategy as well as internal and external messaging. This includes, but is not limited to, the duties described below:

  • Working with the wider communications team to develop and successfully deliver impactful communications plans that are aligned to Group and SBU strategies and objectives.

  • Develop, manage, maintain and upgrade our self-service marketing channels, ensuring a high quality of service is maintained at all times.

  • Ensure that all SBU marketing communications are in alignment with and supportive of the Group strategy and conform to the corporate brand standards.

  • Continually develop and apply our brand standards, ensuring we are best in class across all communications channels.

  • Understand and promote Group initiatives/programmes such as Zero Harm, 25 by 2025 etc. for the benefit of SBU stakeholders.

  • Craft high quality copy for use across all communications channels.

  • Manage, develop and administer company websites using the Umbraco and WordPress content management systems, keeping Balfour Beattys website portfolio at the forefront of design and functionality.

  • Monitor and continually review the companys online presence on external channels such as Google Search Console, Wikipedia, Google and Apple Maps, joint venture websites and project websites.

  • Develop content for and monitor our social media channels, working with the Media & PR and other teams to ensure timely and accurate posting and sharing of content.

  • Produce, manage and publish corporate video content across all internal and external company channels including social media, employee communications and the company YouTube channel.

  • Develop marketing collateral including brochures, flyers, presentations, events materials etc.

  • Ensure issues, opportunities and key milestones that you become aware of through your interactions with the business and external stakeholders are shared in a timely manner with the wider communications team to enable them to deliver aligned communications outputs.

  • Facilitate sharing of success and learning, continuous improvement and best practice among the Communications community of practice.

  • Deputise for line manager as and when required.



  • Excellent communication, copywriting and interpersonal skills with strong attention to detail.

  • A strong interest in a career in communications

  • Strongly-focused on delivering results collaboratively, with quality and creativity.

  • Good stakeholder management skills, with experience of setting, measuring and delivering communications goals.

  • Team player with ability to work with individuals across multiple geographical locations.

  • Adapts positively to changing business demands.

  • A self-starter with good organisation skills and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines.

  • A driving licence and willingness to travel

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grades A C, including Maths and English


  • Desirable:
  • Experience of communicating with diverse audiences.

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud apps and website content management systems.
