Full Job Description

A Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprentice is required. The successful applicant will work towards their AAT qualification while gaining real life accountancy experience in a variety of industries, eg music, medical professionals and retail. These clients can be based anywhere in the UK or even abroad in some cases. There will certainly be a lot of experiences to draw from. Duties include: preparing source documents for computer entry by compiling, sorting and organising documents, resolving questionable data, and setting daily priorities.

Maintain accounts systems for multiple companies by inputting sales and purchase ledgers. Duties include but not limited to:

  • Prepare source documents for computer entry by compiling, sorting and organising documents, resolving questionable data, setting daily priorities

  • Maintain accounts systems for multiple companies by inputting sales and purchase ledgers

  • Prevent erroneous entries by inputting voids and cancellations.

  • Update records by entering adjustments

  • Complete bank reconciliation and prepare VAT

  • Prepare management account information

  • Prepare payroll

  • General office duties, including but not limited to: answering phone calls, emails, dealing with visitors

  • Protect the organisation's value by keeping information confidential

  • Accomplish accounting and organisation's mission by completing related results as needed., AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 3 covers a range of key areas including:

  • Final Accounting: Preparing Financial Statements

  • Management Accounting Techniques

  • Tax Processes for Businesses

  • Business Awareness


  • The apprentice will attend face to face training sessions with an experienced tutor at FAR Accountancy Training Centre in York (Mill Lane, Askham Bryan, YO23 3NU). Alternatively, the apprentice could adopt an Online-live training delivery where training will be delivered via Zoom. The learner will be provided with study materials and guided training by FAR Training. They will be required to undertake exams while working towards the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting qualification.

    There will also be an element of self-study assignments to be completed by the learner during their training. Apprentices will receive training and mentoring in the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for their Level 3 apprenticeship both in the workplace and by training provider FAR Training.

  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required., Communication skills, IT skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Customer care skills, Problem solving skills, Presentation skills, Number skills, Analytical skills, Logical, Team working, Creative, Initiative, Non judgemental, Patience, Independence, Microsoft Office knowledge, Confidentiality, Analytical, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4/C) Essential

  • GCSE or equivalent maths (Grade 4/C) Essential
    GCSE or equivalent 3 other subjects (Grade 4/C) Desired
    A Level or equivalent 3 subjects (Grade E) Desired
