Board Member

This is a voluntary posiƟon, but expenses will be covered.

Board meeƟngs will be held quarterly in person, with a possibility of some ad-hoc meeƟngs
as required. Time commitment from board members is approximately eight days a year.

- Strategic leadership within a business, charity, or public sector organisaƟon
- Knowledge of contract law/employment law
- MarkeƟng and CommunicaƟons
- Youth Work
- Fundraising/Business Development

Konnect CommuniƟes is a CIC based in Redruth, Cornwall that offers support to individuals
across the county with complex issues and mulƟple barriers. Our person-centred approach
allows us to understand what each individual needs to allow them to move forward and
reach their full potenƟal.

Established in 2014, Konnect was born out of a desire to see rehabilitaƟon becoming a more
realisƟc opportunity for those in our society who find themselves disadvantaged by their
history.

We aim to engage, enable, moƟvate and inspire people to overcome these barriers and
move towards progression and a feeling of self-worth.

So far, we have supported over 2,000 individuals through targeted one-to-one mentoring,
workshops, criminal jusƟce support and volunteering and peer mentoring schemes.

This year marks our 10th anniversary, and we are looking for up to three new Board
Members to join our team and support us in conƟnuing to make a difference to people's
lives.

About You:
Decisions made by the board set the direcƟon of our acƟviƟes and have a major influence
on the success of our work so that people in need can take the steps needed towards
affecƟng posiƟve change. The role provides a unique insight into the issues facing our local
communiƟes and being a part of improving local people's lives is very rewarding.

We are seeking Board Members who are ambiƟous, forward-thinking and have effecƟve
communicaƟon skills.

You will bring innovaƟve ideas, enthusiasm and excellent judgement to help lead the
organisaƟon. Understanding of, and empathy with, the types of issues faced by our clients is
also important. Working for Konnect means that you will be making a real difference to
people's lives.

As a Board Member we are not looking for you to have a specific skill set or certain
qualificaƟons. Above everything, we are looking for individuals who are commited to social
jusƟce issues and improving outcomes for people facing mulƟple disadvantages. We want
people who have the Ɵme, dedicaƟon, and passion to support us with our work.
