Full Job Description

Located at our Basildon and/or Romford training centres, you will be leading on the development and delivery of BTEC Sports Tutor to young people aged 13-16.

You will be working alongside the Teaching and Learning Manager and a group of GCSE, Functional Skills and Practical Skills Tutors.

Students are referred to our inclusion programme and are often challenging (academically and/or behaviourally). You will take an active role in helping to equip students with the skills they will require as they transfer to the world of work.

Key Areas

· Delivering BTEC Sport to small groups of students (normally a maximum of twelve)

· Developing schemes of work and lesson plans

· Taking a lead of the marking of work and assessment for learning within the P.E department.

· Developing relationships and offering support to challenging students in order for them to achieve

· Liaising with VIP Key Workers to monitor student progress, behaviour and attendance

· Keeping up-to-date registers on attendance and progress and ensuring that information on student progress is tracked in the database

· Produce individual learning plans and set appropriate targets

· Attend meetings with parents and schools as required

· Be familiar with and following the company code of conduct for student behaviour (and applying disciplinary procedures evenly)

Other areas

· prepare reports for your manager as required

· attend meetings and keep records, as appropriate (may involve some unsocial hours)

· Be familiar with the Health and Safety Policy and ensure that high standards of Health and Safety are observed, including when working off site and/or within other institutions

· Experience in tutoring / teaching Sport

· Ability to form productive relationships with young people who can be among the more challenging

· Good team working skills

· A flexible approach to both delivery and working methods / regimes

· High level of ICT skills (MS Office 2007 / Office 365 including word, excel, access and PowerPoint)

· Ability to plan and prepare training sessions

· Ability to deliver projects to time and on target

· Ability to work and prioritise in an organised manner

· High motivation and the ability to take initiatives

· Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal,

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred), Teaching: 1 year (preferred)

  • working with challenging behaviour: 1 year (preferred)

  • Teaching/Tutoring Sport: 1 year (preferred)

    Business Education Partnership (UK) Ltd, known as BEP Group, is a registered Charity. Currently, we have three main areas of work: work experience for children agreed between 14 and 19; alternative education for children who have been partly or completely removed from mainstream school (or who are risk of becoming NEET); supporting the unemployed through the governments work programme.


  • Since November 2017, BEP Academy has become a registered Independent School.

    Term time - 39 weeks, plus 2 weeks holiday INSET days, (41 weeks per annum)
  • Monday to Thursday 8:30 to 16:30

  • Tuesday - 8:30 to 17:00

  • Friday - 8:30 to 16:00

    Holiday entitlement

    20 days to be taken during school holidays plus bank holidays (5.6 weeks)

    Salary Range

    negotiable, depending on experience and qualifications

    Tutor Salary Range (AET, PTLLS)

    £20,718 to £25,722

    Teacher Salary Range (DET, Cert Ed, QTS/QTLS)

    £24,318 to £30,240
