Full Job Description

Your primary responsibilities will be to support our teams who track and navigate cancer patients through their cancer pathway to ensure that they are diagnosed and treated within relevant timescales. You will support effective co-ordination of pathways for patients with suspected or diagnosed cancer and accurately enter data for Cancer Waiting Times and other national data sets. You will need to be methodical in your approach to task and willing to be flexible to support the team.

You will assist with collating lists of patients to be discussed at Multi-disciplinary team meetings and ensure all relevant details for the discussion are available or have been requested. You will need to work to tight deadlines so that team members prepare for their role in the meeting.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for and enthusiastic, well-organised and motivated individual to work within our Cancer Services Department in County Durham & Darlington Acute NHS Foundation Trust. The position will be based at our office in University Hospital of North Durham but our staff work on an agile basis, so the opportunity to work two days from home may be available.

As part of a small team working in the same area, you will work to support staff in ensuring the Trust complies with National Cancer Waiting Times Targets and other national datesets. The ability to work as a member of a team and to be flexible in your approach will be key to your success in our department. Your work will be focused around preventing delays in patient pathways and ensuring all referral and diagnostic information is available and accurate.

Prior experience of working in the NHS in an administrative role, particularly in related area, is desirable. You will need good IT skills, with experience of using Outlook, Word, Excel and some experience of using hospital administration systems would be an advantage.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.
