Full Job Description

The service runs from Monday to Friday 10am-6pm.
Do you love helping people in need? Are you looking for a rewarding role in the health and social sector?
You will be based within A&E department where our service involves greeting and supporting patients. You will be talking with their next of kin, providing refreshments, providing practical support such as getting a pillow for a patient. Providing the support that you would want to experience when attending an A&E department.

Your days will be spent speaking to and assisting patients and medical staff so the hospital can run smoothly whilst freeing up clinical time.

What will a day in the life of a Service Support Worker involve?

  • Assisting with mealtimes- Getting food orders from patients, carrying hot meals to patients including ambulance patients and patients in the waiting areas.

  • Making a tea trolley and providing refreshments to patients

  • One to one support with confused, dementia patients

  • Bereavement support

  • Signposting and referring patients

  • Providing emotional support to patients, relatives and staff

  • Providing practical support- blanket, pillow, sick bowl, etc

    To be computer literate and confident using spreadsheets, emails, zoom, etc.

  • To be confident in talking with staff and patients as well as comfortable writing information and being a good listener.

  • A good knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care.

  • Education to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience)
