Full Job Description

As a Catering Assistant you will help prepare sandwiches and salads. You will also help to prepare meals, hot/cold snacks that are served within our staff dining room, serving visitors, staff and patients. You will also be required to carry out other general kitchen duties.
Catering Assistants within the hospital have a key role in maintaining a high standard of meal provision to patients and make a valuable contribution in the wider care team that supports patients during their time in hospital. You should have good organisational and communication skills, be flexible in your approach to work whilst demonstrating an ability to work using your own initiative and work as part of a friendly dedicated team at Forston Clinic
This post is for 21 hours per week to include every other weekend (weekend working attracts enhanced pay)
The proposed shift pattern is as follows
Week 1 Monday 08:30-15:00, Thursday 08:30- 15:00, Saturday 09:00 18:30
Week 2 Sunday 09:00- 18:30, Wednesday 08:30-14:30 , Thursday 12:00-18:30
Employment in this post requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check., The position is for 21 hours per week
This post can include bank holidays
You should be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of the expectations of a hospital service
Duties will be interesting and varied to include,
Preparing sandwiches and assisting in preparation of patient meals
Ensuring the kitchen is kept to a high standard of cleanliness
Washing up cooking pots, trays and ensuring hot food trollies are cleaned when they are returned after meals
Disposal and recording the kitchen waste and packaging into large bins
When required serving in the hospital restaurant to both staff and member of the public.
