Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Cleaning Operative to join our team at Childer Thornton School , Ellesmere Port. You will be responsible for the cleaning of designated areas within educational premises to ensure that they are kept in a clean and hygienic environment.

Additionally, you will be involved in numerous tasks including but not limited to :

  • Cleaning, washing, sweeping, vacuum cleaning, emptying of litter bin, polishing and dusting of the designated areas (which may include toilets and shower areas), and fixture and fittings, using where appropriate, powered equipment.

  • Movement of items of furniture.

  • Relieve and assist in other establishments in certain circumstances.

  • Attending and taking all necessary action, statutory and otherwise in the event of accident, fire, loss, theft, lost property, damage, unfit food or other irregularities and complete the necessary return and / or reports.

  • Attending meetings as requested.

  • Duties may vary between term and closure periods.

  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.

  • Carry out any other reasonable tasks which may be required from time to time and to enable the company to remain adaptable to changing markets and needs.

  • Comply with Company rules, policies and procedures at all times.


  • The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar role and have experience as a cleaner with associated Health and Safety training.

    You will have excellent customer service skills and enjoy working as part of a team.

    The role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS Check.

    Hours of Work - Monday to Friday 12.5 hours per week, 3pm - 5.30pm Term time only with deep clean over some weeks in the holidays
