Full Job Description

The role will be varied, using the breadth of skills that clinical psychology can offer. You will provide assessment, formulation and therapeutic interventions with older people and their families. The role will include formulating with MDTs to enhance care plans. There will be opportunities to provide psychological consultation, supervision, training and support across the service, as well as develop skills in the provision of neuropsychology assessments., The team is led by an experienced Consultant Clinical Psychologist and also benefits from professional and clinical support from other Psychologists in Wakefield. There is additional professional support via a Trustwide Older Peoples Psychology network. The development of clinical interests and skills is routinely supported through CPD and supervision.

We have strong links with the University of Leeds Clinical Psychology training course and regularly host training placements within our service. We are an innovative service who encourage opportunities for research and evaluation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, ambitious and enthusiastic Clinical Psychologist to join a dynamic, friendly and welcoming Older Peoples psychology service. Our psychology team work across the older peoples service, inputting into the Memory Service, CMHTs, Intensive Home Based Treatment Team, and inpatient wards (dementia and functional). There are opportunities to work in any of these areas and we welcome discussions with applicants about their interests.

If recruited into a Band 7, we will provide you with the support to progress into a Band 8a post within the team, through a career and competency framework developed within our Trust. Progression to Band 8a is determined by practice evidence, according to clearly defined 8a core competencies in the development framework.

Part time hours would be considered.
