Full Job Description
Geothermal Engineering Ltd (GEL) is looking to recruit a highly motivated, permanent, full-time Community Engagement & Education Officer, to join our growing team, pioneering geothermal power development in the UK. This exciting opportunity has been created to reinforce the success of our existing community engagement activities and support our company expansion. The role will mostly be based at the United Downs Geothermal site near Redruth, but the successful applicant must be willing to travel across Cornwall for community/education events and presentations., The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties, working with the Community Engagement & Education Manager and independently. These may include, but not be limited to:
Communication
- Attending and contributing to regular staff meetings and briefings to remain
- Maintain an effective channel of communication with GEL Directors, the
- Liaise with external agencies and businesses, to form strong working
- Keep regular contact and establish constructive relationships within the
- Welcome visitors, schools and community groups to GEL's site and actively
- Support the Community Engagement & Education Manager with
- Manage own diary, bookings and workload whilst meeting deadlines.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of community engagement activities and
- Develop educational material and existing resources to reflect current school
- Research details of community events, relevant groups and networking
- Develop and produce presentation literature, digitally and in paper format, for
- Manage a library of key imagery and information. Photographing key
- Ensuring high quality production of both internal and external publications,
- Maintain stock resources and reordering in accordance with company
- Work in line with relevant operating policies, procedures and public relations
- Completion of GEL timesheets, paperwork and submit on time.
- Deliver informative presentations and speeches about GEL to a live audience
- Provide a high level of customer service, behaving in a respectful, courteous,
- Ambassador for GEL at organised events and networking meetings, to
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills - verbal and written.
- Confident when speaking in public.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when required (with time off in lieu)
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work on own or as part of a team.
- Able to stay calm in any situation.
- Excellent influencing skills to confidently engage with internal and external
- Keen interest in learning about renewable energy and associated technology.
- Ability to think creatively.
- Time management skills
- A full UK driving license.
- Previous experience in working with community groups, young people or in a
- Event organisation experience
- Knowledge of local area
- At least three years of suitable prior experience, Disability Confident

Additional ad hoc duties as and when required., Location: The role will primarily be based at the GEL office on the United Downs Industrial Estate near Redruth, Cornwall. There will be travelling to community or education events most weeks.
Standard Hours: 37.5 hours a week. There will be the need for flexibility to accommodate community and education events outside of these times.

Salary: £24k - £28k per annum, subject to experience, plus benefits
