Full Job Description

This is a great opportunity to join a high performing team within the headquarters of The Walt Disney Company EMEA, with considerable scope for learning and career progression. The Compliance Team covers EMEA Financial Reporting, Statutory Accounting, Technical Accounting support, Sarbanes Oxley controls, and bespoke projects. This role will focus on the EMEA results and provide guidance and support to the various accounting and finance teams based in the same London office, across EMEA and USA.

The Compliance Manager will support on all aspects of EMEA Consolidated Reporting, partner with the USA and EMEA Accounting Teams, UK and Mumbai Shared Service Centres and Global Controllership to provide accounting support to the business. This role will produce quarter-end and year-end close reports, complete local Statutory & Tax requirements and liaise with our external auditor while ensuring timely and accurate reporting and driving process improvement.

The Opportunity & Responsibilities:

  • Manage the completion of the EMEA Balance Sheet and Income Statement, and other Compliance reporting requirements on a quarterly and annual basis.

  • Responsible for Statutory Accounting for 4 key UK legal entities

  • + liaise with US and EMEA Controllership Teams, Tax Teams, Legal Teams, and Treasury Teams to ensure US GAAP and Local GAAP accuracy.
    + Working closely with external auditors and third parties on the production of the Financial Statements
  • Provide guidance on dividend planning within EMEA. This includes:

  • + the preparation of management accounts for UK entities
    + the preparation and communication of accounting entries/step plans under US GAAP
    + manage and post the accounting entries into our accounting system.
    + manage balance sheet wind-downs.
  • Provide compliance support to new business initiatives and projects e.g. Disney+ Controllership lead to support the on-going D+ roll-out, and being the key lead and assist Tax and Legal Teams

  • Management and coaching to support the development of the team, manage one direct line report.

  • Partner with finance, tax, legal, Global and EMEA Controllership teams, operation leads and project teams to support and implement new initiatives as required.

  • Identify and drive areas of improvement within current processes with the aim of maintaining the current high standard of service provided in a more efficient manner.

    Qualified accountancy qualification with strong relevant working experience

  • Strong educational qualifications with an accounting / auditing working background

  • Experience managing staff in multicultural environment.

  • Project Management

  • Strong excel skills.

  • SAP experience

  • Experience of working in a corporate environment

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (US GAAP, FRS102 UK GAAP, IFRS) with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Able to manage to tight deadlines.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to work under pressure in an environment where priorities must be continually re-evaluated and adapted as possible.
