Full Job Description

Your role as a Consultant you will be in a client-facing role from Day One, conducting technical interviews and preparing documentation to support R&D tax claims. You will be working with senior technical and finance staff within our client companies where you will need to understand the nature of the work being performed and prepare high quality documentation to explain how projects meet the definition of R&D.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing technical data and documentation from clients to support the planning and development of R&D claim methodologies

  • Coordinating and leading efficient technical interviews with the client to advise on R&D tax relief

  • Advising our clients through the R&D assessment process to support them determine qualifying activities and costs, whilst capturing robust technical information that satisfies specific HMRC reporting requirements

  • Developing supporting technical documentation summarising the output from the interviews suitable for non-technical audiences

  • Working within a project team to ensure that the appropriate costs linked to the technical activity are captured within the R&D claims

  • Drafting reports for submission to HMRC to explain how our clients R&D claims have been prepared

  • Providing technical input into marketing and sales activity based on your area of engineering or scientific knowledge and experience

  • Manging a large diverse portfolio of clients with competing priorities to meet multiple deadlines

  • Working effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution

    Be trained to degree level in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent)

  • Industry experience in an engineering role is desirable

  • Be a strong communicator, with good interpersonal awareness skills

  • Be able to work within multi-disciplinary teams, taking responsibility for the technical aspects of R&D claims on behalf of manufacturing and engineering companies, as well as generating high quality technical reports

  • Be well-organised, able to manage multiple projects and handle conflicting demands in a timely manner

    Personal independence
