Full Job Description

· Support the Centre Manager in ensuring full contractual compliance and ensuring adherence to legislation, company policies and procedures, contractual obligations and financial parameters.

· Lead, motivate and coach the operational senior management team to ensure company values and vision, policies and procedures and all contractual standards and Key Performance Indicators are achieved.

· To work with the managers to develop innovative practice and service development to add value to provision for Residents.

· Work closely with business partners within Mitie (e.g. Training, HR, IT, Finance etc), to ensure effective delivery of support services within the Centre.

· Liaise with key stakeholders, including (but not limited to) Home Office, Independent Monitoring Board, Emergency Services, Border Force, NHS England and the local Health Provider etc, working in partnership to resolve issues and to ensure the smooth running of the Centre and delivery of quality services to the Residents.

· Attend meetings as appropriate within the Centre, deputising for the Centre Manager as required.

· Ensure clear governance of incident management through clear processes and review systems.

· Integrate HMIP 'Expectations' into all key policies and raise awareness with all staff groups in order to embed the principles as appropriate.

· Work with staff across the Centre to ensure a culture where people are respected and valued, treated with dignity, developed and recognised so that a safe, inclusive and positive environment is maintained.

· Develop a culture committed to continuous improvement and the delivery of excellent service, by ensuring that audit and compliance activities are firmly embedded within each functional area.

· Manage financial and commercial aspects of the Centre's operational areas, including developing and agreeing budgets and expenditure to ensure financial parameters and company targets are met.

· Manage serious operational incidents assuming the role of Silver Commander in liaison with both C+C and Home Office Gold Command.

· Deputise for the Centre Manager as required, during periods of absence.

· Participate in Mitie initiatives including succession planning and the talent pipeline as well as contributing to business development opportunities as appropriate within Care and Custody.

· Form part of a senior on call roster along with the Centre Manager and other senior leads.

· Undertake Duty Director duties as and when required, which may include weekends.

Essential

Substantial experience at a senior managerial level within a custodial environment and a commitment to ensuring a safe, decent and secure environment for all

Experience of incident management and resolution, including training at Silver Commander level

A demonstrable commitment to Mitie Values and expected behaviours

Commercial acumen including budget management and driving financial efficiencies

Demonstrable experience of line management and supporting/coaching of managerial staff to achieve effective results

The ability to perform well under pressure, and to balance competing priorities

The ability to think creatively, and apply innovation to service delivery

Experience of establishing and maintaining stakeholder relationships at senior level

Desirable

Experience of working within the immigration sector and a working knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.

Knowledge of third party expectations, including but not limited to, HMIP, and how these apply to the immigration estate.
