Full Job Description

  • To support the Registered Manager in ensuring a high quality service is delivered and maintained effectively in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.

  • The work in accordance with Cascades own care standards and ethos, applying them to your own working practice and support colleagues to apply them to their own practice.

  • To support care workers to have the skills, knowledge and ability to undertake their roles.

  • Responsibility for organising staff rotas as advised by the Registered Manager.

  • Ensuring that staff understand and are fully aware of the daily routines of the home.

  • Work within organisational policy and procedure established in the home.

  • Ensure that all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities in relation to Ofsted regulations, the Children's Home Regulations (England) 2015, and the Health and Social Care Act (2008).

  • Ensure that all staff are made aware of the Therapeutic community strategies to work with children and young people in our care.

  • Ensure that children's reviews and meetings are delivered within the required time scales.

  • Ensure both local authority and internal care and placement plans are in place and that staff fully understand their role.

  • Chair, or participate in meetings and reviews, as and when required.

  • Ensure that the standards expected in the delivery of care are upheld and the standing of the organisation is maintained.

  • Take the lead in ensuring an open culture is created, one in which children can complain and that they are listened to.

  • Ensure that all staff work within a non-discriminatory environment.

  • Assist the Registered Manager in the administration of financial related issues.

  • Undertake and participate in any training programmes which are relevant to the employment of staff working in children services, paying particular regard to residential care.

  • Deputise in the absence of the manager and cover for team leaders where necessary.

  • Ensure staff fully understand the role of a key worker and make sure the systems are in place for the delivery of this practice.

  • Promote and actively encourage the professional development of staff.

  • Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained in such a way that they are compliant with good childcare practice, homes procedures, Company policies and Children's Regulations.

  • Ensure staff are aware of and deliver the support required to ensure the life chance opportunities of the young people for their social, educational, leisure, emotional, physical, and cultural needs are met.

  • Produce, coordinate and edit reports.

  • To contribute to the on-call system.

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

  • Be involved in the staff safer recruitment process.


  • Location: Banks House, Norwich. Although, you may be required to travel to other locations within Cascade with appropriate notice.

    Working Hours: 40 hours over a 5 day period, as agreed with by the manager.,
  • Able to manage own time and admin tasks effectively to meet goals (Essential).

  • Auditing Case Files (Essential).

  • Creating staff rotas (Essential).

  • Monitoring staff holidays and sickness (Essential).

  • Writing Reports (Essential).

  • Ordering stationary and ensuring resources are available for staff (Essential).

  • Assisting the registered manager in HR administration tasks (Essential).

  • Arranging team meetings and ensuring all minutes are filed (Essential).

    At least 2 years managerial experience in health and social care (Essential).

  • Sound knowledge of governing legislation, procedures and best practice in caring for looked after children Essential).

  • Working in a therapeutic Community (Desirable).

  • Working with mental health (Desirable).

  • Evidence of service and care quality system (Desirable)., NVQ level 3 in the Children's sector (essential).

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Children's Health and Social Care (Not essential but must be willing to undertake).

    Salary: £31,700 (plus inspection and performance related bonuses)
