Full Job Description

AVL Powertrain UK is currently seeking Design Validation Engineers which will play a key role in supporting Start of Production Projects.

You will join the team with the primary objective to work closely with our customers to work on the Design Validation (DV) of Electric Drive Units and batteries.

You will be expected to take ownership for planning and executing test work primarily on developmental rigs, providing clear and concise data analysis and reporting/recommendations to customer teams (focused but not limited to EDU, Electric Motor, Power Electronics).,

  • Responsible for the testing campaign from requirements definition to data analysis and reporting for design validation of unit under test

  • Definition and planning of the testing requirements with the Subject Matter Expert

  • Supervision of the testing facility set up, to ensure Rig and Unit Under Test fulfil the requirements

  • On site support at customer or other facilities as appropriate to monitor and ensure good delivery of the testing campaign

  • Data processing and data analysis that will be used to make engineering decisions

  • Daily summary updates on project and testing status to all project stakeholders

  • Technical direction to test facilities & other stakeholders

  • Support internal AVL presentations and participate in trainings and knowledge exchange

    Our engineers are typically exposed to multiple different projects during their career working with us, including increasing opportunities in the field of electrified powertrains and virtualised development. The role is therefore particularly suited to flexible people who will enjoy the opportunity to gain experience in new areas and who can rapidly self-start, combining a pro-active attitude, excellent analytical problem-solving skills and an outstanding technical engineering background., Minimum of 2:1 Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering area (Mechanical, Automotive, Electronics, etc)

  • Experience in powertrain development, testing and design validation

  • Electric Drive Unit and battery experience/knowledge

  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to summarise and make clear technical recommendations

  • Self-starter with the ability to work with high level instruction

  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both written and verbal, with AVL and customer team members

  • Flexible and adaptable to move onto other commodities (e.g. battery/charging/inverter)

    Annual Remuneration: Due to UKVI compliance requirements, we are obligated to state the annual gross salary (full-time) for this position. The salary range is between £30,000 - £55,000 and we will offer market-conforming remuneration taking qualifications and professional experience into account.
