Full Job Description

As a Digital Marketing Assistant, you will be working with the Marketing Manager to deliver the online presence and executing the marketing strategy for Horse of the Year Show and for the associated brands. Your role will be highly varied, utilising a spread of marketing skills. You will be responsible for coordinating social media platforms, creating editorial content, design work, updating website content and working alongside our agencies and suppliers.

Grandstand Media Ltd is a team of specialists with many years' experience planning, organising and running equine events. Most notably Horse of the Year Show (Birmingham, CSI 3

  • ) which GML has organised since 1997 the event now welcomes over 60,000 visitors in October at the NEC. The British Showjumping National Championships, Stoneleigh Horse Shows, The Showing Register and Showing World have since been added to the company profile.


  • This is a full-time position located at the GML offices at Stoneleigh Park. Additionally, during an event the applicant will be required, along with the company's other personnel (at the expense of the company) to be based at the host venue of the event. This currently involves staying at the NEC Birmingham for up to ten days in October and other stay away locations as required at other times of the year.

    This person plays an important role in the delivery of marketing messages and contributes to audience growth, follower engagement and attendance at events.,
  • Proactively coordinate the online presence of Horse of the Year Show and our associated business.

  • Work on all social media channels.

  • Work with the Marketing Manager to implement and maintain a 12-month marketing plan

  • Email marketing campaign creation and execution, as well as ongoing customer communication

  • Manage and increase the subscriber database

  • Copywriting

  • Design work

  • Website content management

  • Work with suppliers including print, web, design, media and press

    Some experience in a marketing or communications role with experience in digital marketing

  • Sound digital marketing concepts and a solid understanding of social media

  • Excellent written and verbal skills using Microsoft Office

  • Basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite and InDesign preferred

  • Ability to work independently and has good initiative

  • Equestrian knowledge would be preferred

  • Hours of work Monday-Friday inclusive, 9:00am - 5:00pm

  • Working at events may require a minimum of 8 weekend days per annum

  • The applicant must understand the requirement for extra hours (within the basic salary contract) both prior to and during the Events.
