The Position

Digital Pathology Sales Specialist

Roche Diagnostics (UK and Republic of Ireland)

  • If the answer to the questions above is yes, we welcome you to apply for an exciting opportunity as a Digital Pathology Sales Specialist at Roche Diagnostics UK & Ireland. This is a field-based role with a remit to support the UK and Republic of Ireland affiliate.

    Your key responsibilities

    Your main responsibilities will include the following for the UK, Ireland and agency countries (Malta, Iceland and Cyprus):

  • Digital Pathology Sales Specialist for the Roche Digital Pathology portfolio to support the solution sales approach.

  • Driving and enabling sales to deliver against the local business plan, with end to end opportunity and pipeline management, including content creation and/or review for tenders.

  • Supporting local customer interactions, including affiliate customer presentations, events, conferences, vision days and tender presentations.

  • Engage with the global hubs of marketing operations and customer success, along with market development and solution delivery teams.

  • Stakeholder management with the local, regional commercial, service and marketing teams of diagnostics.

  • Builds effective relationships with a broad stakeholder network inside and outside of the lab including CIOs, CMIOs, innovation managers, physicians and key thought leaders to influence the acceptance and use of the company's products.

  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with our Open API partners, acting as the key point of contact for all 3rd party algo opportunities, facilitating with customer demonstrations, training, and pricing discussions.

  • Maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and competitiveness, while identifying selling opportunities, risks to business and growing our digital pathology ecosystem e.g. new 3rd party partners.

  • Attendance and active participation in the local digital governance structure, specifically being a member of the Information Solutions Group.

  • This position is field based in the United Kingdom or Ireland


  • You will be focused on the UK, Ireland and agency country network, championing the impact our digital solutions have to our customers. You will need to be passionate about the offering and secure support from varying levels of the organisation.

    A field based role (with flexibility on location in the UK or Ireland), you will be expected to spend over half of your time at customer sites or attending specific customer related events. This role will also include travel to our headquarters in Burgess Hill, and when relevant, internationally. Your time spent with customers, predominantly face to face, will include engaging in pre tender sales cycle activities, tender dialogues and submissions.

    Your profile
  • Previous sales experience for healthcare, ideally including histopathology.

  • Experience with engaging with new teams, and fostering environments of accountability.

  • Bachelors or Masters in Business, Finance, or Healthcare or equivalent experience.

  • Demonstrates the ability to build networks and inspires working in a team leveraging agile methods.

  • Ability to identify when to lead and when to empower the local team with total solution selling and promoting the digital pathology portfolio

  • Ability to prioritise and balance the needs of the affiliate with the overarching global strategy.

  • Proficient in forming strong working relationships. To provide close support to commercial teams and influence stakeholders across the affiliate.

  • Must be fluent in English

  • Preferable - knowledge of the healthcare market in the UK & Ireland with an existing network of CIOs and CMIOs in main healthcare institutions.


  • Other important attributes to your success in the position include:

  • Technical IT knowledge, ideally in the healthcare sector

  • Laboratory workflow experience

  • Excellent ability to translate a customer's current and future needs into actionable commercial messaging.

  • Excellent communication skills in order to provide credible sales messaging and make IT solutions meaningful to a wide audience.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritise accordingly.

  • The ability to inspire and influence a range of individuals and teams, internally and externally.

  • Credibility and the gravitas to work with senior stakeholders, internally and externally.

  • A good knowledge of the diagnostics market and an understanding of the technical complexities associated with diagnostics products.

  • Passion to drive the portfolio and promote the value - both internally and externally.

  • A 'can do' attitude.
