Full Job Description

Overview

We have a fantastic vacancy for a proactive and enthusiastic ER Partner to join the Employee Relations team on a 12-month fixed term contract. As an ER Partner, you will provide support, coaching and advice to deliver an effective employee relations and HR service to Regional Operations Managers, Area Operations Managers, General Managers and Team Members, working within our managed house estate.

We are looking for someone who can effectively partner with people managers, providing ER support, whilst effectively challenging and influencing stakeholders at all levels. Building strong working relationships will be essential to enable you to take ownership of dispute resolution and long-term sickness and to ensure strong employee relations through providing effective, efficient, responsive and commercial support. This varied role would suit someone who is passionate about the industry, commercially aware, able to influence and who is keen to drive both their own personal development and also the business forward.

This role reports to the Senior ER Partner and is a field-based role with the requirement of national travel to provide support across our pub estate. Whilst every week differs as it will be determined by current case load and business need, a typical week will include a mixture of working in our pubs, working in our Wolverhampton-based office, and working from home. You will need to be able to travel and to manage your own diary to suit business needs. You will be provided with a car allowance to support you in your role.

Have you got what it takes? An ideal candidate should:

  • Build relationships with a range of stakeholders across the business, which enable you to influence and support managers to ensure they take ownership and accountability for the ER issues, performance and development of their teams

  • Provide advice, guidance and coaching to line managers on all areas of employee relations, including but not limited to disciplinary, grievance, probation, performance management and long-term sickness cases.

  • Conduct disciplinary, grievance and sickness absence meetings where required, alongside line managers (primarily Regional and Area Operations Managers)

  • Take full case management ownership for any tribunals within your region(s)

  • Lead on CAPEX and TUPE processes, ensuring that all legal requirements are adhered to

  • Attend and contribute to relevant management and ER team meetings

  • Work effectively with the wider HR team to leverage opportunities for collaboration and improvement of performance and process

  • What you'll bring to the table:
  • An experienced ER Partner / Advisor (or equivalent) who has worked within a multi-site or field-based capacity, with a proven ability to effectively manage their own time and work independently

  • Ideally educated to degree standard or equivalent (with CIPD accreditation a bonus)

  • Someone with a good working knowledge of current employment legislation and an eagerness to remain up to date with legislative changes

  • Ability to independently manage a high volume of complex cases, who is highly organised, flexible in approach and able to deal with an unpredictable workload

  • An individual with the ability to effectively communicate with and influence internal and external stakeholders at all levels, ensuring that good employee relations are maintained whilst adhering to Company policy and operating commercially

  • Able to engage with administrative tasks in a timely manager, including case tracking and providing relevant written outcomes and responses throughout case management, supported in doing so by the Junior ER Partner

  • Work collaboratively with the wider ER and HR teams as required, both in person and remotely

  • Confident to create content and to present key ER information and updates at regional meetings, to both upskill and influence line managers

  • Ability to positively challenge and be challenged by stakeholders and peers

  • Support and contribute to wider team discussions around project and policy development, to support in meeting individual and business goals

  • Able to travel throughout our estate across England, Scotland and Wales, given the nature and geographical spread of our business (full UK driving license essential)
