Full Job Description

We're looking for someone who is knowledgeable and passionate about the Cloud and Data Engineering. You will also be a key representative for our team within Dyson and external partners.

Our Cloud platform is the glue to helping us develop prototypes and features of our future products, working alongside our team of Mobile and Embedded engineers and Data Scientists. It is also core to enabling Dyson's Data teams, collate and explore the data on our prototypes and products, helping to identify and demonstrate future intelligent features.

Our tech:

The team works on a series of self-contained projects which allows us to adopt the most effective technology.

To deliver on accelerated timelines, we heavily utilise serverless technology from AWS, as well as prototyping languages such as Python or Go. This allows us to reduce overhead and keep us focused on the solution.

As we continue to bring intelligent features to our products, we are developing our platform to allow users to gain a deep insight on our data as well as develop practical ML solutions using frameworks like Sagemaker.

While we do not maintain any legacy code, we develop common components which can re-used in future projects.

About you.

You will be responsible for owning the strategy to continually progress our platform, adding in new capabilities as well as continuing to improve the security, scalability and compliance of our system. You'll be working with the Product Owners to define work packages and continuing progress our ways of working.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading a talented team of Cloud and Data engineers, providing strong technical and people leadership across our platform and projects

  • Developing the strategy to progress our Cloud platform, ensuring a robust, modern, managed platform

  • Working with the Product Owner to define work packages and a roadmap of future releases

  • Contribute to wider Dyson cloud/data strategies through collaboration with other internal stakeholders

We are a diverse and dynamic team consisting of highly skilled engineers and data scientists specializing in App, Embedded, Cloud, and Data technologies. We partner with teams across Dyson to rapidly refine early product concepts and ideas, by developing working prototypes that de-risk tech and help production teams understand what is required so they can focus on delivering.

  • Our team:

We have a culture of trust and respect; we believe the teams themselves are the best people to decide how they deliver work, and that within the teams everyone's contribution is vital. We regularly share our knowledge and interests through community meetings, which regularly lead to the adoption of new technologies, methods, and cross-team collaboration.

We are a growing group, split into nine interdisciplinary scrum teams. Team members are from diverse educational backgrounds and experience levels.

When not building software, we can be found cycling, gaming, cooking, learning foreign languages, making music or building stuff. We're a very sociable team, often meeting outside of work., The Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology is unlike any other higher education institution. We aim to develop the best engineers in the world by combining rigorous academic programmes with work on future Dyson products and real responsibility from day one. Working and studying, learning and doing, while developing pioneering technologies and radical new designs.

    Financial benefits:

  • Performance related bonus

  • Company paid Life Insurance

  • Discounts on Dyson machines

  • Competitive pension scheme

  • Flexible benefits programme with a growing range of voluntary benefits, including the ability to purchase additional holidays
