Full Job Description

The Environmental Management and Monitoring Lead will report to the Site Execution HSE Director on the project and will have the following responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the environmental management, compliance and monitoring across the project sites (Woodsmith Mine, Lady Cross, Lockwood Beck and Wilton;


  • Overall responsibility for the environmental audits and audit reporting across all project sites;


  • Sign off review on the environmental management plans across the project sites;


  • Incident management governance


  • Document control in relation to the environmental management and monitoring documentation;


  • Working with the Interface Lead to provide support to permitting by fulfilling the permitting requirements related to environmental management on site;


  • Effectively provides guidance, as required, regarding compliance requirements and corrective actions to environmental officers and contractors personnel as required.


  • Ensures all required samplings/testing are done as required


  • Review and close out of rectifications arising from inspections, audits, or compliance review process.

    BSc or MSc in environmental sciences

  • Environmental experience in the mining and / or construction industry, 8 years of practical experience in environmental management and monitoring

  • UK permitting experience and knowledge of the UK environmental management legal and regulatory framework

  • Ability to understand and explain all project environmental requirements

  • Physical ability and enthusiasm to work on site

  • Effective communication and interaction with construction crews in the field and management teams.

  • Concise report writing on a daily basis.
