Full Job Description

A genuinely varied, wide ranging and important role on a beautiful estate. You will be responsible for the upkeep, care and presentation of the wider estate and regenerative farm.

You will be involved in all aspects of work including livestock care, woodland work, and nature recovery work within our flagship rewilding and rewetting project. And be key to maintaining and promoting the estate's profile within the local community and for guests and visitors.

REPORTS TO: Estate & Nature Recovery Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Estate Grounds & Livestock
CONTRACT: Permanent

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

LIVESTOCK CARE

  • General livestock care, feeding and watering animals

  • Building and maintaining fencing / pens

  • Movement and handling of animals

  • Calving and lambing duties


  • ESTATE MAINTENANCE AND PRESENTATION

  • Gardens and pasture; strimming, mowing, weeding and planting

  • Driveways and rides upkeep

  • Hedging, fencing and boundaries, repairs and maintenance of fencing

  • Use of tools, vehicles and machinery (training given where necessary)

  • Care and maintenance of buildings, barns and outbuildings

  • An understanding of the importance of estate presentation and tidiness


  • WOODLAND

  • Assist with timber extraction, firewood production and packaging

  • Assist with charcoal production; kiln burns and packaging

  • Felling and crosscutting, Operational support for estate visits and educational access

  • Operational support for a team of ecological volunteers with surveys and monitoring

  • Ability or willingness to share company values and our vision to visiting guests


  • REWILDING & REWETTING

  • Involvement with groundbreaking rewilding and rewetting projects

  • Support ecological data collection and monitoring

  • A strong work ethic

  • Positive and flexible approach to working

  • Presentable and personable, helping to maintain and enhance the image of the estate when interacting with visitors and customers

  • Desirable experience or familiarity with basic mechanics, machinery, tool operation skills, tractor driving or trailer licence, an agricultural / land management qualification

  • previous work experience in rural, woodland or agriculture

  • previous work experience in livestock care

  • previous work experience in estate management upkeep

  • a full clean driving licence

    Whilst office hours are typically 08.00 to 17.00, Monday to Friday, this role requires a flexible approach.

  • Due to the nature of the role and activities of the organisation, the role may require occasional weekend work.
