Building a sustainable tomorrow

We seek an Estimator to join our BAM Ritchies Geotechnical team. The base of operations will be our office at Godstone, Surrey, reporting to the Estimating Manager for Ground Investigation with site works throughout the South of England. We offer a flexible working policy so this role would suit a mix of Home and Office work, with requirement to visit customers throughout region.

    Your key activities will include:
  • Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards

  • Developing and maintaining a good working relationship with the customer, their design team and supply chain

  • Responsible for winning ground investigation work for BAM Ritchies

  • Taking ownership of opportunities from receipt of the enquiry and up to handover with the delivery team

  • Collaborating with the in-house engineering and delivery teams to develop appropriate tender proposals

  • Participating in early contractor involvement (ECI) stages of prospective projects

  • Estimating works and producing work winning tender submissions

  • Ensuring compliance with the corporate governance baseline

  • Presenting solutions to the potential customer


  • Who are we looking for?

    You should have an academic background in either Geology or Civil Engineering with experience in the field of ground investigation

    The following are prerequisites for the role:
  • Experience in specialist ground engineering field

  • Solid understanding of ground investigation standards and techniques including an appreciation of plant capabilities and resourcing requirements

  • Highlighting risk and opportunity matters and being able to communicate this to the customer

  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Apps

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and manage your own time to work to deadlines


  • Preferably the candidate will have the following (although training is available to achieve):
  • Professional accreditation to ICE, IOM3 or GeolSoc.
