Job Purpose

As a Fertility Nurse, you'll provide information and advice on our treatments to

patients, as well as any emotional support. You'll coach our patients to self-

administer fertility drugs, help to support with booking of procedures, support for our

patients pre and post procedures.

You'll play a huge part in a team that strives to provide a world class service to our

patients on their journey to having a baby.

Key Responsibilities

· Assist in the daily running of the fertility clinic, coordinating treatment cycle

plans

· Perform venepuncture

· Participate in on-going Quality Management by participating in the

undertaking of audits and risk assessments

· Compliance to legislative and organisational codes of practice

· Support other areas of the clinic when required, including Consultants and Drs, As a Fertility Nurse / Fertility Midwife at The Surrey Park Clinic, you will provide

advice, information, support and clinical care throughout the patient's journey. You

will work with the multi-disciplinary team in coordinating treatment cycles and

providing our patients with the best possible treatment experience and as a team

giving each patient the very best chance of success. As a member of the team, you

Role accountabilities and duties:

· Advice and information provision

· Provide advice and information to patients, giving patients time and support in

understanding their treatment plan and answering patient queries throughout their

treatment journey.

· This will be dealing with questions face to face and over the telephone/ video call

and resolving any queries or problems.

· Meeting the diverse needs of our patients and having an inclusive approach and

embracing diversity.

· Being up to date with the regulatory and governance framework by following The

Surrey Park Clinics induction and learning pathways and participating in the

competency assessment process.

· Supporting patients with the consent to treatment process, ensuring patients are

appropriately informed and aware of the consent requirements and implications.

· Ensure the consent process is complete in accordance with consent policies and

standard operating procedures.

· Teaching patients to inject fertility drugs and how to administer other medications

during the treatment process.

· Advising patients on the next steps of treatment following blood test results and

ultrasound scans results.

· Providing emotional support to patients with empathy and understanding.

· Signposting patients to The Surrey Park Clinics counselling support services and any

relevant external support services.

· Participate in patient events and be an ambassador for The Surrey Park Clinic.

Clinical duties

· To undertake clinical duties in an outpatient setting supporting consultations and

monitoring of treatment cycles and determining next steps with the support of the

clinical team.

· To undertake clinical duties in the day case setting including preparing the Procedure

Room, assisting with procedures and undertake recovery of patients.

· The Fertility Nurse / Fertility Midwife post has the potential to grow by extending

clinical responsibilities.

· This could include ultrasound scanning, prescribing and consulting. This will depend on the operational needs of the clinic and depend on the training, experience and competency of the job holder.

· Input data, find information on the clinical patient database and follow the system

pathways to ensure accurate record keeping and efficient and safe processes.

· Embrace developments and new systems to maximise results and efficiency.

Governance and safety

· Together, with the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that all processes are followed in

accordance with the standard operating procedures.

· Maintain accurate and timely records.

· Maintain all standards of professionalism, performed to the Nursing and Midwifery

Code.

· Ensure role is performed in compliance with the HFEA Code of Conduct.

· Act with integrity, being open and honest so that we learn from each other and

achieve better outcomes.

· Support quality management practices including participating in audit activities.

· Follow Infection Control and Prevention policies and requirements.

· Assist with supply, dispensing and the safe keeping of drugs in accordance with The

Surrey Park Clinics policies, RCN Medicines Management 2020 and the NMC Code.

· Follow Adult Safeguarding policy and requirements.

· Comply with Health and Safety policies and reporting requirements.

· Undertake mandatory training and actively participate in the learning pathways

provided by the Company.

· Confidentiality and data Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times in

accordance with the HFEA Code of Practice and Cares standard operating

procedures.

· To handle patient data responsibility by completing training on data protection and

· following Company requirements on data protection and information governance.

· Adhere to the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation 2016 and Data

Protection Act 2018.

· Maintain knowledge and develop professionally

· Be up to date with clinical protocols, patient information and standard operating

procedures by actively participating in professional update activities provided by the

Company.

· Actively participate in the Personal Development Review process and the

competency assessment processes.

· A qualification in adult nursing - Degree/ Diploma

· Must be a registered NMC Nurse

· Post registration experience working within an acute hospital

· Evidence of CPD in fertility/gynae/women's health

· Phlebotomy

· Expert clinical practice

· Competent IT skills

· Effective listening and interpersonal skills.

· Excellent work ethic, punctual and flexible

· Strong organisational and planning skills

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be receptive to change.

    Hours:

    Part-time, 2 days per week 8am - 6pm (days to be agreed)

    The Clinic is open on some BH's which are part of the working week - any BH's worked will be given back as extra AL.
