Full Job Description

Our client, a family run organisation is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join their finance team in a modern office based in Chorley. The role will report to the Managing Director and the Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for managing all financial activities of the company, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and standards, and providing accurate financial information to support decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders at all levels.

The role will include:

  • Oversee all aspects of the company's financial management, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting as per the group requirements

  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of financial statements, journal entries, and reconciliations

  • Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and financial performance to identify risks and opportunities and provide recommendations for improvement

  • Monitor and review Work-In-Progress and other balance sheet accounts for any non-chargeable, irrecoverable or internal costs

  • Calculate and report on financial & non-financial KPIs (e.g. fleet profile & utilisation)

  • Oversee and check employee payroll

  • Liaison with lenders re Financing of Company assets

  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices

  • Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with audit and tax requirements

  • Prepare & submit VAT returns.

  • Assist the finance team, providing support, and training as needed to develop their skills and expertise

  • Assist with staff recruitment and human resources

  • Assist with continuous improvement projects including system changes and implementations

  • Support in providing financial information for future business tendering processes

  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, sales, and human resources, to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making

  • Evaluate and recommend financial systems and tools to streamline processes and improve efficiency

  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends to ensure compliance and continuous improvement

  • Liaison with Insurance Companies

  • Any ad hoc financial duties as instructed by the Company's Board of Directors and leadership team

    The ideal candidate will have experience working within a similar role, managing a finance team and be able to build relationships. Full CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) or CA (Chartered Accountant) qualification preferred.

    Up to £55,000 a year - Permanent, Full-time, Monday to Thursday - 08:30 to 17:00
