Full Job Description

We are looking for a Finance Officer to join the Accountancy Team to support with delivering a comprehensive accountancy support service for the Council.

The team is responsible for financial management including preparation of management accounts, budgeting and forecasting, undertaking reconciliations and providing general accounting support to Budget Holders across the Council., This is a permanent role as part of the Accountancy team which will work closely with Finance Managers to support them with budget monitoring, budget preparation and closing the accounts.

The Finance Officer will perform cost allocations, reconciliations, completion of Government returns, cost benchmarking exercises and monitor budgets.

The successful applicant will also assist with providing VAT advice to colleagues across the Council, liaising with HMRC and our external VAT advisors

About the team:

The Finance Officer will be a key part of the Accountancy team, working closely with the accountants, within the wider Finance team.

The Finance team at the Council provides vital financial professional support and advice to services across the Council and to its ICT company, Strata Service Solutions Ltd.

We are looking for an individual that maintains a high level of accuracy, methodical and possesses good communication skills.

An AAT qualification and a good knowledge of financial accounting techniques and methods is required alongside experience of computerised financial systems and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.

The candidate must have good problem-solving and evaluation skills.

The successful applicant will be required to plan their workload to achieve regular deadlines.
