Full Job Description
We are currently seeking a Fire & Life Safety Design Engineer to work across our busy Midlands Region, reporting directly to the Head of Fire & Life Safety. Join the rapidly expanding SECOM Fire Team, covering the Midlands Region, including Birmingham, Nottingham, Leicester, Peterborough, Cheltenham to Oxford. The role of a Fire & Life Safety Design Engineer is a very important, challenging and rewarding one.
The Role
The primary objective of the role is to proactively support the regional Fire & Security Sales Consultants in the design of Fire Alarms to comply with BS5839 Part 1, Emergency Lighting to BS5266 and Disabled Refuge Systems to BS9999. SECOM Fire and Life Safety Systems Team provides a full portfolio of solutions to both new and existing clients within a defined geographical region. Working with your Regional Fire & Security Sales Team you will source and develop new tendering opportunities from electrical contractors, M&E consultants and building contractors.
Maintaining a target driven mentality is paramount together with a strong focus on achieving clear goals and objectives. The role requires a high level of robust product knowledge, determination, and a dedication to being totally customer focused. Resilience and a strong desire to succeed are other important attributes for this demanding yet rewarding role. Good organisational and planning skills, attention to detail, excellent communications skills are also key requirements for this role
Objectives
- Professional approach to Fire & Life Safety Systems Design and Compliance
- Lifecycle approach to ensure Compliancy and quality
- Ensure that CRM records (Inc. Diaries) are maintained promptly and accurately
- Proactively research, identify and convert new business opportunities
- Maintain accurate records within SalesForce for all customer/influencer activity
- Ensure optimum cross-selling activity of all related Fire products.
- Responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities in support of the Regional Fire & Security Sales Team
Proven ability to design fire and life safety solutions for a wide range of commercial - Applications to comply with all relevant standards
- FIA Foundation to Advanced Design Modules (or equivalent)
- Extensive knowledge of BS5839 Part 1
- Knowledge of BS5839 Part 6
- Knowledge of BS5266
- Knowledge of BS9999
- Self-motivated and focused
- Solution and Compliance driven
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Attention to detail
- Results driven and have a hunger to succeed
