Full Job Description

As Fleet Operations Manager (FOM), and part of a team of three FOMs, your focus will be on ensuring the effective frontline management of TUI Airways operations, as well as supporting the safe and compliant operation on a 24/7 basis by supporting the Duty Fleet Manager roster. In addition to working from home utilising Teams, the position will require presence at our UK Head Office, Wigmore House, Luton, from time to time on at least a monthly basis.

Training, regarding the regulatory aspects of auditing, will be provided by the Flight Operations Safety and Compliance Officer and the Airline Compliance team. All other required training will be provided by the relevant operational departments. This is a great opportunity to gain extremely varied experience in a unique part of TUI.
The role will require effective co-ordination across Flight Operations and the Airline Compliance Monitoring team.

In this role, you'll report to the Head of Fleet.,

  • As a Fleet Operations Manager you'll be responsible for supporting the Head of Fleet in delivering:

  • On behalf of the Nominated Person Flight Operations, support the 24/7 Duty Fleet Manager roster

  • Supporting the Head of Fleet in maintaining a strategy to ensure the highest standards of safety and compliance in the flying and conduct of operations on Company aircraft

  • Management of safety events including recommendation responses, closure of fleet assessments and managing pilot return to flying (as required)

  • Ensure that risk assessments are produced, signed off by the Head of Fleet or Nominated Person Flight Operations, and filed for the introduction of any significant change to operational procedures

  • Ensure the flight operations risk registered is updated as required

  • Completion of audits and audit closure material within Flight Operations as required

  • Attend Airline Safety Action Groups and working groups

  • Attend compliance meetings as needed

  • Excellent airline operational knowledge in all aspects of flight operations and regulation

  • Previous experience in Flight Operations technical and operational management is essential

  • Excellent planning, organisational and administrative skills with a high degree of self-initiative and team spirit along with excellent attention to detail

  • Competent in using computer-based packages including Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)

  • Cross-functional people management skills

  • Emotional resilience, impartial approach, and self-motivation

  • Strong influencing skills with collaborative working both internally and externally

  • Ability to work independently and manage own time as well as working as part of team

  • Role requires strong business English, both spoken and written, and may involve some travel as required
