Full Job Description

  • Be able to effectively plan and deliver high quality adventure training sessions within the framework provided by the Army, with an emphasis on safe practice, identified outcomes and a high standard of customer service


  • Deliver a full and wide range of activities (qualification dependent)


  • Be flexible in your availability to work.


  • Work as part of the team to ensure the programmes, work colleagues and customers comply with all Health & Safety requirements/regulations and local working practices


  • Be reflective in your practice, both personally and with recruits, supporting continuous development and improvement in line with the goals of the Adventure Training programme

We are now looking to further grow our pool of outdoor professionals, to complement the work we already engage with at a national level.


  • Programme delivery requires recruits to be positively challenged to achieve and develop, under controlled risk, in often challenging outdoor settings. In this environment, the students are to be inspired, by example, to display initiative, develop self-confidence, physical and moral courage, resilience and determination, leadership skills and improved functional skills that directly enhance 'military capability' and are aligned to Army standards and values.

    We are looking for suitably qualified and experienced instructors with a genuine passion for the outdoors to work with us. We are arranging induction dates throughout spring 2024 and we are allocating work through to December 2024.

  • Currently and passionately engaging in a range of outdoor activities


  • High personal standards in presentation, communication and delivering customer service


  • Hold a relevant Outdoor First Aid Qualification (2 day minimum)


  • Hold at least two of the following awards: Summer Mountain Leader

    Rock Climbing Instructor

    British Canoeing (Sheltered Water) Coach/UKCC BC Level 2 Coach or BCU Level 2 Coach

    PERIOD: Year-round, work typically allocated in 4- blocks (weekdays).

  • Sennybridge Induction date confirmed - 23rd & 24th April 2024 - Selection based on availability for work during peak season weeks of May through August 2024


  • Halton Induction by appointment for those with availability for work during peak season weeks of May through August 2024


  • Currently allocating work through to December 2024


  • PAY RATE: £130 to £150 dependant on experience and qualifications.


  • (these are the 2023 rates and currently under review for the coming financial year for both basic day rate and summer incentive scheme), Current and UK Driving Licence including D1 or D1+E entitlements


  • Multiple awards from the following list and/or higher tier awards in these activities Summer Mountaineering

    Rock Climbing

    Canoe and Kayak

    Caving

    Previous Joint Services Adventure Training experience or British Army Adventure Training experience
