Full Job Description

This is a lovely opportunity for a nanny to help care for a 4.5 year old little boy both at home and in school. Care will be required Monday to Friday, 8.15am to 6pm throughout the year.

The little boy currently requires some assistance to walk (he is able to support himself on the sofa, for example, however he needs help such as holding hands to be fully mobile). He is currently doing very well, and the hope is he will be more independent in the foreseeable future (perhaps in a year or so, as a loose guide). Aside from his assistance with walking, he has no cognitive, language, or social-emotional delays or needs. This role will be based at the family's home, and at the little boys local private school, supporting him physically throughout the day. Whilst the nanny will be in a school environment for part of their day, the only duties required will be to physically assist him, no teaching duties will be needed. Although the nanny will be contracted to start at 8.15am, the usual routine will be for Mum/Dad to do AM drop off, and for the nanny to then start at the little boy's school at 9.30am each day.

The family are looking for someone loving, proactive, happy and energetic. Someone who loves being a real asset to the family they work with, making family life easier and picking up on the little things that make big differences (such as keeping track of whether the milk might be about to go out of date, or whether there is enough bread for the little boys lunch the next day).

Mum and Dad have very busy jobs, and do not have any other local support aside from their nanny. This means they are looking for someone who can offer a buffer if they might be working early/late. There may also be additional hours offered on the odd weekend if Mum and Dad have plans, with suitable notice.

The nanny will need to have their own car they can use to transport the little boy, all fuel whilst driving him will be reimbursed at 45p per mile. The right candidate will also be qualified in childcare. It would be a real bonus if a candidate had both nanny and school based experience (such as a TA) for this role.

The family are active, and love spending time with their friends and family. They have a cocker spaniel at home, who does not require walking (although it would be a lovely bonus if the nanny wanted to do this!). They do have cleaners, so there are no family housekeeping duties aside from the usual nursery duties i.e. his washing, bed linen, organising/sorting of toys, keeping his playroom tidy etc.

Care will be focused on the little boy, taking him to school when required, supporting him throughout the day, bringing him home, cooking him dinner etc. During the school holidays there will be plenty of scope for the nanny to plan fun days out, activities etc.

Minimum experience Level for this job: 2 years caring for children in this age group minimum. A real bonus would be both nanny and school based experience., For all roles with children and the vulnerable you must have an up-to-date enhanced eDBS certificate which is registered on the update service, a 12 hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate and a minimum of 2 professional referees who are happy for you to share their contact details to our recruiters. One of your references must be your current or last employer and both references must be immediately contactable. We also recommend that you have appropriate personal insurance.
