Full Job Description

The Trafford & Stockport College Group (TSCG) has an opportunity for an experienced teacher to join the Progression Curriculum team to help us achieve our vision of unlocking potential and fostering success.

GCSE Mathematics is at the core of Study Programmes for 16-18 learners across the Group, providing learners who are yet to achieve a Grade 4 with the opportunity to improve their maths skills and GCSE Grade in order to progress in their education and employment.

The Role:

Working as part of our highly experienced Progression Curriculum team, you will benefit from and contribute to our ongoing commitment to delivering excellence in all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment in your specialist subject. Engaging learners in maths and helping them to overcome barriers which they may have faced in the past is at the heart of what we do at TSCG, making maths relevant, practical and enjoyable with a commitment to securing positive outcomes for all those we teach.

Progression curriculum helps learners to progress in education or on to employment. Most of our learners have SEND or have been disaffected in education and need a nurturing environment in which to thrive and progress. The department offers a range of courses and bespoke provision for learners 16-19 (16-24 with an EHCP). In addition to vocational qualifications, the department delivers English and maths qualifications including Functional Skills, Themed Awards and GCSE., If you are passionate about your specialist subject and sharing your knowledge, skills and experience and have an enthusiasm for supporting young people in this field then there has never been a better time to join the Trafford & Stockport College Group.

Candidates with recent experience of teaching post-16 GCSE / Functional Skills or Secondary GCSE Mathematics would be ideally suited to this role. A maths degree is not essential, however clear evidence of maths subject specialism in related disciplines would be required. This role would be suitable for both Newly Qualified Teachers or experienced practitioners.

The role offers the potential for progression within the TSCG curriculum staffing framework, should future opportunities arise. Ongoing Internal and External CPD opportunities will form an important part of this role, including subject specific CPD.
