Full Job Description

The Geo-Environmental Technical Lead is responsible for supporting with escalations of complex queries, writing comprehensive risk reports of flood risk, contaminated ground risk and ground stability risk for the property market. You will also be responsible for mentoring and coaching the Environmental Consultants, offering technical guidance and direction to ensure their technical progression is supported. You will develop and deliver regular training sessions to encourage and model professional development, working with operational leads to co-ordinate personal development with business and departmental needs.

You will work closely with the wider business as part of cross functional, delivery focused teams, primarily within the Product space to collaborate on developing a consultancy style product alongside advanced risk assessment products and services. You will have the opportunity to make an immediate, meaningful impact in the business through coaching but also through a number of significant projects.

You will have a wide and varied role, but your main responsibilities will include;

  • Responsible for the writing of accurate and high-quality property risk reports.

  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to graduate and associate environmental consultants, including mentorship and/or professional coaching.

  • Providing ongoing and daily operational support

  • Responsible for quality assurance of all aspects of our environmental reports, specifically the technical content and professional opinion.

  • Delivery of immaculate customer service to external parties, including the delegation of communications to the correct member of staff. To be the technical lead on queries and deliver efficient resolution in line with current processes.

  • To develop, maintain and enhance your skillsets around environmental and/or geological guidance, best practices, risk assessment processes and methodologies and support the development of our internal procedures.

    Relevant degree in Environmental Geoscience, Geography, Geology, Engineering or similar. Post-graduate qualifications are desirable but not essential.

  • Process-driven with an understanding of the need for consistency

  • Collaborative, with a positive and customer/commercially focused attitude

  • Proactive and able to use initiative to manage own workload/projects and identify areas for improvements.

  • Accreditation/membership (or chartered membership) of relevant professional organisation - IEMA, CIWEM, RICS, RGS, SocEnv, CIEEM, IES, ICE or other.

  • Previous report writing experience (ideally 3+ years) in translation of environmental data into interpretative risk assessment - contaminated land/ground stability. Flood risk experience is extremely beneficial.

  • Understanding of qualitative risk assessment methods e.g. how to build a conceptual site model for contaminated land risk assessment

  • Competent in working with geospatial data and/or GIS systems.

  • Background in report delivery, including providing excellent customer service either to a non-technical audience or other professionals.
