Full Job Description

As a key member of the team you will work on infrastructure, highways, earthworks and drainage designs for construction schemes from early inception and planning stages through to construction and handover. We cover a wide range of public and private sector projects including residential housing schemes, waste facilities and general civil engineering projects., Main job duties will include:

  • Producing and checking reports, designs and drawings including drainage design, ground modelling, cut/fill analysis and alignment design.

  • Checking of drawings and contract documents to ensure designs are produced to a high quality standard and in line with programme, brief and cost constraints;

  • Developing knowledge and skills in relevant civils design software;

  • Attending client meetings as required.

  • Answering technical queries and representing Clarkebond, with guidance from senior colleagues.

  • Attending site visits to inspect the works in accordance with the Client's brief and ensuring that accurate notes recording the visit are maintained.

    The role would suit a recent university graduate (or graduating summer 2024) who is keen on developing their civil engineering skills within a busy, well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy. You will receive support and guidance from engineers with many years of experience including support towards developing the relevant knowledge, skills and attributes of a professionally chartered engineer Civil Engineer., Civil Engineering Masters or Bachelors degree OR relevant ONC or HNC qualification.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Civils 3d and WINDES - additional training will be available as required.

  • Knowledge of drainage design, highway horizontal and vertical alignment design, highway materials and specification, ground conditions, earthworks and specification.

  • Previous work experience within the civil engineering industry would be advantageous., Can communicate effectively with clients, architects, contractors and regulatory / statutory authorities to deliver detailed designs.

  • Enjoys working as part of a small, friendly team and collaborating with colleagues in other engineering disciplines.

  • Has the desire to develop as an engineer.

  • Can communicate effectively with others.

  • Assumes responsibility as experience develops.

  • Ideally is a student member of a relevant body such as the ICE.

    £24,000 - £27,000 dependent on experience Exeter, EX1 Permanent, 25 days holiday + Bank Holiday with the option to purchase an additional 5 days
