Full Job Description

We have grown at a fast pace in recent years through acquisition and we are now searching for a highly-organised, innovative and results-driven Head of Accounting UK.

The Head of Accounting will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the business unit's accounting function. This leadership role requires a strategic thinker who can ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls and compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Financial Reporting

  • Oversee and responsible for the preparation of accurate financial statements, including consolidated financial statements that will feed into group financial statements & FP&A reporting.

  • Provision of key analysis into the FP&A team to assist in the monthly management reporting packs.


  • Support the Procurement / Accounts Payable Team with postings, allocations, recharges, agreeing terms etc. Overseeing the processing of expenses, credit cards and invoices from suppliers


  • Support the Billing manager with postings, allocations, recharges, agreeing terms etc and ensuring appropriate revenue recognition in line with group policies.

  • Ensure correct and consistent application of Group's accounting policies ensure their correct and consistent application across the organisation.


  • Leadership
  • Lead, mentor and develop the wider accounting team.

  • Management of GL Team, providing technical guidance and support.


  • Internal Controls
  • Coordinate activities across the finance function to deliver the period end close within company deadlines.

  • Ensure a robust balance sheet reconciliation process.

  • Ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) exist for all processes and are documented.


  • Compliance & Audit
  • Ensure operational compliance of VAT and taxes, ensuring transactions are processed accordingly and all returns are submitted /paid on time and reconciled to general ledger accounts;

  • Manage with the annual and interim audit, being a key point of contact with auditors. Coordinate the preparation of Audited Financial Statements.

  • Be a point of contact for technical accounting and reporting queries and review new developments in Accounting Standards and related regulatory frameworks to assess the impact on the Group.


  • Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Support FP&A with budgeting / forecasting.

  • Prepare/ assist with cash flow forecasts and coordinate cash optimization initiatives (AR, AP, Inventory).

  • Full ownership of data integrity within data submissions including identifying and investigating variances to forecast / budget and problems in divisional data submitted.


  • Collaboration & Ad-hoc
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including finance, HR, legal and operations to support overall business objectives.

  • To liaise with the Commercial Teams on tenders, contracts, terms, rebate accruals etc.

  • Assist the business with any adhoc finance projects.


  • Systems & Process
  • Contribute to a strong process improvement roadmap.

  • Review business processes within the region to further add value and reduce reporting timelines.

  • Enhance efficiency and find continual improvements to reporting systems and processes.


  • M&A
  • Finance lead within region on any new M&A, working with FP&A, transformation team and business on both pre and post-acquisition, enabling smooth integration into Ekco Finance

    5 years' experience working in Management/Lead function, including remote working

  • Highly motivated self-starter with initiative and the ability to work independently.

  • Ability to lead and manage change including process improvements

  • Responsible individual who takes ownership, makes recommendations and takes the lead on delivering efficiencies

  • Adaptable to a changing/fast paced working environment

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel

  • Experience of Netsuite or similar ERP system

  • Good business acumen and an ability to work across boundaries and cultures

  • Fluent English speaker
