Full Job Description

As a result of recent growth and development within our Clinical Leadership Team, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head of Advanced/Enhanced Clinical Practitioners to join Medvivo on a full time, permanent basis. The full time hours will include 30 hours per week of leadership and 7.5 hours per week working in a clinical capacity.

This is an exciting role offering the successful applicant the chance to lead, inspire and develop a team of clinical practitioners, whilst developing and delivering a patient focused service.

About the role:

Reporting to the Deputy Clinical Director you will work closely with other clinical and service leads.

This role is dedicated to the clinical management, leadership and professional development of Advanced and Enhanced Clinical Practitioners, Allied Health Professionals and Pharmacists. This will require you to deliver exceptional management and leadership to staff as well as effective clinical management (supervision and support within a clinical setting) to staff on shift during out of hours (OOH) periods.

The Head of Advanced/Enhanced Clinical Practitioners will also be required to promote a culture of continuous professional development in which all staff regularly evaluate, reflect on and improve their own quality of care delivered.

Your day-to-day duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining high quality care of all services users through audit, and evaluation of practice for yourself and your team.

  • Contributing fully as a member of the Service Leads Team, playing a pivotal role in shaping the culture and embedding the core values and behaviours of the organisation.

  • Working in collaboration with staff and service leads to create a patient focused service, encompassing all elements of clinical governance.

  • Supporting and actively promote the development of the Integrated Urgent Care Service across BaNES, Swindon and Wiltshire.

  • Supporting the Safeguarding Lead in the safeguarding of adults and children.

  • Resource management; to include the recruitment and selection of staff in accordance with Medvivo Policies.

    As a practicing Advanced Clinician Practitioner, you will possess leadership credentials and an aptitude to successfully meet the demand of the role. You may already be working in a clinical leadership capacity within a managerial role.


  • As a proven communicator and leader, you will be required to maintain and develop numerous key relationships both internally and externally. These include but are not limited to Medvivo's Clinical Leadership Team, Directors and Associate Directors, Medvivo's Quality Team, Patients and Carers, NHS England and ICBs.

    As a clinical expert and role model for delivery of care at the highest level, you will be required to work sessions autonomously during the OOH period which could include nights, weekends, weekday evenings. This will enable the post holder to develop a working knowledge of all clinical scenarios and to lead a team expertly and effectively.
