Full Job Description

The Head of People, Operations will serve as a trusted advisor to our Dental Operations Leadership team, providing strategic thought-leadership, and HR guidance to develop and implement a strategy that drives the sustained and improved performance and capability of the business in the short, medium and long term.

How you'll help us make health happen

  • Working collaboratively with the People Director and People Leadership Team to develop the Bupa Dental Care People Strategy and Plan for BDC over a 3-5 year horizon, ensuring it aligns to key operational business outcomes, in the short, medium and long term, and the wider Bupa Dental Care strategy.

  • You'll act as a trusted advisor and partner to the Operations Director and Regional Operations Directors to understand plans for growth and barriers to performance, and to input/shape and provoke requirements to the Plan to ensure the People function's work is relevant, meaningful and makes a material difference to the success of the business. Within 12 months the role will expand to include partnering the whole Dental Executive Team

  • Demonstrating strategic thinking and thought leadership, leading the development of innovative and creative people-related solutions to solve business challenges.

  • Taking the lead on a range of strategic initiatives and projects, working cross functionally, collaboratively and with pace and agility, and using robust data to monitor performance and drive decision making. Initiatives include retention, capability, performance management and strategic workforce planning.

  • Designing and driving initiatives that support a longer-term strategy to enhance employee engagement, retention and satisfaction, including the development of programs and policies that promote a positive work environment and company culture.

  • Creating an employee experience with a digital lens to make life in practice easier, to continue to grow engagement, capability, career opportunities, and fit for purpose roles and structures within practices and across support centre to enable the right levels of support and delivery.

  • Providing coaching and leadership to the People business partnering team ensuring execution of the People Plan, monitoring performance of initiatives, and improving and adjusting plans to ensure they're on track to achieve business outcomes.

  • Providing input, working collaboratively and supporting the implementation of key areas of Employee Experience, shaping initiatives including Health & Wellbeing, Engagement and D&I initiatives.

  • Proactively identifying and managing people related risk within the business unit.

    Significant experience in a strategic Head of HR/People role within a large, complex business, leading a team, developing and implementing long-term strategies and shorter-term initiatives aligned with business objectives.

  • Experience of leading successful change within an organisation to drive improved performance

  • Proven strategic and thought leadership to initiate and influence change across an operational landscape.

  • Excellent relationship management skills, evidenced through Executive/Senior stakeholder management and successful cross-collaboration.

  • Strong data interpretation skills and proven ability in understanding root causes and translating into options for improvement.

  • Ability and willingness to work in both a strategic and tactical space.

  • Highly pragmatic, resourceful and innovative.

  • Engaging, approachable with a high level of emotional intelligence and self-awareness.

  • Experience of working in regulated environments
