Full Job Description

Menzies Distribution are looking for an experienced Head of Transport Management Systems to join our business. The Head of TMS is responsible for management of the company Transport Management System, its administration, configuration, implementation, and continuous improvement to meet the needs of a fast moving and scaling business,

  • Control of the TMS Management and implementation teams to maintain the system, deliver both new projects as well as supporting ongoing operational improvements.

  • Will work closely with key stakeholders, including, Heads of Transport, business development and clients to develop and deliver solutions according to business requirements and client needs.

  • Taking and inclusive approach to continuous improvement by reviewing the operation as a whole and making recommendations.

  • Utilising and analysing relevant data from transport and associated systems to identify issues and proactively drive improvements through the transport team members and the wider business.

  • Monitoring all investigative activity to understand root cause and make sure that corrective and preventative action has been implemented and solutions identified or escalated where necessary.

  • Management of the TMS vendor and related systems suppliers, holding regular review meeting to prioritise activities and also understand new development or improvements that may bring benefit to our operations.

  • Define and agree management KPIs to report on system and operational performance.

  • Support, facilitate and embrace a culture of open communication internally and externally.

  • Ensure that the company`s values and vision are achieved through the development of an open, interactive and communicative culture.

    At least 10 years of experience in the 3PL environment, with a thorough understanding of logistics processes and supporting systems.

  • Ideally has at least 3 years of experience with Enterprise Software TMS solution or has experience of the management of a comparable industry standard TMS product.

  • Demonstrates clear and concise communication; interpersonal, organizational and team building skills; business judgment; and proven expertise in directing the efforts of a TMS team and working with internal and external customers.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines and control multiple project timelines and priorities.

  • Experience of managing and driving change, in situations that are constantly evolving.

  • Has the experience and ability to understand EDI and integration at a moderate level. Should have the ability to read EDI specifications & understand mapping and act as an intermediary between the client and the technical support specialist and the TMS vendor.

  • Proven supplier management expertise

  • Able to manage, motivate and develop people cross functionally

  • High level of accuracy and numeracy, keen eye for detail

  • Full and current UK driving license

  • Travel within UK as required by the company

    Salary: Competitive

  • Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday Days

  • Hours: 37.5 Per Week

  • Home Based with travel as required
