The Exciting Opportunity
The position of full time Head Receptionist (37.5 hours per week) basis has become available at the Worcester Whitehouse Hotel, Worcester WR1 1EA. Reporting into the Deputy Manager, working 5 shifts over 7 days you will be the direct contact for all guests.
Experience in an hotel preferably as a Receptionist is essential as is working knowledge of a PMS.
What will I be doing?
As a Head Receptionist, you will be responsible for
Leading and managing the Reception department so that it performs efficiently and effectively.
For the management, control and administration of the reception area and its ancillary services in accordance with company standards.
Reviewing, evaluating, planning and taking action so that the department achieves its targets.
Giving quality service to both internal and external customers.
§ To assist in and maximise the proactive sales function of the hotel with a prime focus on accommodation sales.
§ Have a full knowledge and promote the hotel's facilities, services and company products.
§ Carry out advanced reservations; accept deposits and issue confirmations and receipts. Deal with chance bookings and cancellations.
§ Deal with room allocations, guest arrivals, check-in and departure procedures. Accept and process messages and enquiries.
§ Post transactions to bills, make adjustments, process accounts and accept guest payments/transfers to ledger accounts.
§ Handle and keep safe cash, cheques.
§ Maintain floats and prepare banking.
§ Arrange safe custody of guest's property.
§ Carry out close-of-business administration, reports and balancing. Process hand-over procedures.
§ Use the switchboard, fax machine and other word processing/IT equipment.
§ Promote and sell up the hotel's services. Achieve maximum occupancy/revenue.
§ Assist and be courteous to guests and display good customer care and social skills at all times.
§ Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and appearance, wearing the appropriate uniform.
§ Work in co-operation with other departments, especially housekeeping services. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues both in front office and in other departments.
§ Attend hotel and departmental training sessions whenever instructed.
§ Adhere to procedures for the security of keys and property - company, guest and personal. Deal with lost property and report immediately any suspicious circumstances or persons acting strangely.
§ Work safely, conforming to statutory and company health and safety regulations, especially fire precautions, manual handling, disabled persons and reporting of accidents. Comply to other related statutory regulations (eg. Hotel Proprietors Act and Data Protection Act).
§ To check and action Reception diary to ensure all special requests for guests are actioned or queries followed up.
§ To be aware of all groups in-house and ensure that the correct bills and accounts are maintained and ledgered at all times.
§ To ensure any accidents to staff, guests or visitors are reported in accordance with correct procedures.
Cover Duty Management shifts as required.
The Worcester Whitehouse Hotel is considered the premier hotel found right in the heart of the historic city centre of Worcester; located opposite Foregate Street Station, within walking distance of the shops, bars and central attractions close to the beautiful Worcester Cathedral, River Severn, the county cricket ground and race course. It is near the Malvern Hills and the Cotswolds and with easy access from junctions 6 and 7 of the M5.
There are 84 en-suite bedrooms, 50 seat brasserie, conference and event facilities for up to 120 delegates and a leisure club with indoor pool, sauna, steam room, whirl pool and fully equipped gymnasium

8 hours (to include a 30 minute break) between 7.00am - 11.00pm over the week, Monday to Sunday. eg
7.00am - 3.00pm
10.00am - 6.00pm
11.00am - 7.00pm
