Full Job Description

The purpose of this role is to support the Operations team in all areas of the Bedford site to maintain a safe workplace, free of
obvious risk and to review ongoing policies and procedures to maintain high levels of compliance with H&S Regulations along with
GDP.

Reporting into the General Manager, you will develop, maintain, and review all HSE procedures, compliance and management systems
aligning to global HSE management standards.

You will conduct risk assessments to detect potential hazards, manage, monitor, and report on operational HSE performance,
analysing information and embedding continuous improvement initiatives and high-performance HSE standards.

You will take responsibility for vendor assessment and auditing processes ensuring all external parties adhere to HSE and company
policies and procedures.

Collaborating with the Operational Leads you will support in any tender management processes during RFQs and guide internal
project logistics teams on HSE culture, ensuring practices are adopted, and adhered too, whilst implementing and executing
critical training programmes that meet current HSE standards.

This role will see you liaising with wider Movianto national, regional and in-country HSE and operational teams where you will
share best practice approaches and drive a culture of safety across core operations.

This role may require national travel, therefore applicants must hold a clean UK driving license and be flexible with working
location dependant on operational and client requirements.,

  • The implementation of company policies and procedures reporting directly to the General Manager at Bedford and indirectly to

  • the Senior Management Team and the National Health and Safety Management.

  • To provide advice and assistance to each Departmental Manager in line with the H&S Policy Document and other Standard Operating

  • Procedures and Safe Systems Of Working.
  • To liaise with the site training team to ensure all staff have adequate information around such issues as Manual Handling,

  • COSHH, Cytotoxic awareness and refresher training as required.
  • To chair site Safety Meetings, ensuring all sections are represented and Minutes produced outlining specific actions and

  • individual responsibilities.
  • To work where required with any external Safety consultants to evaluate areas where clarification is required.

  • To liaise with the Facilities team in the control of contractors on site, to monitor work permits and ensure ongoing safety,

  • especially in areas where our teammates are working alongside.
  • To monitor and supervise the accident reporting procedure, including the correct notification to the Health and Safety

  • Executive and other relevant organizations (e.g. local authorities) in accordance with RIDDOR regulations (when required) - in
    particular, the investigation of all serious accidents and incidents.

  • To present these incidents and incidents in report format on a regular basis and review trends to reduce / prevent

  • reoccurrence.

  • To write and monitor Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Working to ensure best practices are observed and all documents

  • reviewed annually or before in the case of a serious accident or incident.
  • To write, where required, specific individual risk assessments (for example expectant mothers, teammates with specific

  • challenges) to ensure they can work safely.
  • To conduct GEMBA (safety) inspections / walks with Site Managers to work to maintain a safe environment.


  • To ensure adequate PPE is available and that teammates are wearing it in accordance with site policy

  • To monitor First Aid cover on site and ensure an adequate number of people are trained.

  • To ensure Fire Drills are carried out annually (or twice annually) for all staff on all shifts.

  • To ensure walkways and traffic routes around the site continue to be clearly defined and liaise with facilities as required to

  • address.
  • To ensure all pre-use inspection of work equipment are carried out and recorded.

  • Ensure racking inspections are carried out regularly (liaise with facilities).

  • To ensure that the site is audited in full once a year and that an interim 6 monthly audit is also carried out and an action

  • plan produced for improvements.
  • To ensure compliance with the requirements of ISO45001.

  • To assist as required with ad hoc situations as they arise and resolve in a timely manner.

    To be successful in your application you will already have significant health, safety, and environmental experience ideally within

  • a regional or national capacity. Background in Pharma may be a distinct advantage. You will be NEBOSH diploma qualified with in
    depth knowledge of HSE standards, procedures and experienced in HSE management systems. You will be an expert in root-cause
    investigation, risk assessments and hazard analysis, skilled in producing detailed reports and recommendations that improve
    operational activities.

    It goes without saying that you will be a natural communicator, with the ability to form excellent working relationships with
    internal and external stakeholder groups, you will have an inquisitive and logical mindset, skilled at imparting and training HSE
    knowledge and best practice to local and international groups.,
  • 3+ years' experience in managing & truly leading teams in a fast paced, complex, exacting standard, highly regulated

  • operational environment.
  • Experience of Excel Spreadsheets, Word and PowerPoint essential.

  • A sound understanding of H&S Law and regulations.

  • Good communications skills both verbally and written in report format or investigation format.

  • A broad and sympathetic approach to issues, willingness to contribute hands-on to resolving ongoing and new safety issues as

  • they arise.
  • Confident presentation skills and ability to liaise with managers at all levels.

  • Experience in conducting investigations into accidents/incidents and developing and implementing corrective actions and

  • preventative actions is essential.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Experience of using Lean Principles to drive change. Good knowledge of CI principles.

  • Experience of creating and developing a safety focused culture.

  • Dependable, reliable, honest, integrity & confidentiality.

  • Confident and resilient in always conducting oneself professionally.


  • Professional Qualifications

  • Graduate NeBOSH Highly Desirable | IOSH Diploma essential.

  • Membership of a professional organization (for example IOSH) is essential.

  • DGSA (Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor) not essential but preferred.
