Full Job Description

Happiest at Home provides dedicated, personal home care assistance to clients, to enable them to have an excellent quality life in their own home. You will be seeing the same client every week.

The Clients

The client is a lovely 13-year-old girl with cerebral palsy and registered blindness. She is non-verbal so uses noises to communicate but can also use physical cues to point to the things she needs.

She lives with her mum and 3 siblings in their comfy family bungalow

She is always able to express her emotions and is normally a very happy little girl.

Her mobility is significantly limited, and she is in her wheelchair consistently, the home is fully adapted to her needs and has ceiling and tracking hoists for her transfers.

Her medications are given through her peg, but she can be fed food and fluids orally if they are pureed.

She enjoys all things musical and sensory, she also enjoys going bowling and is very vocal about her wins! She attends a special needs school and requires aid in getting her up and ready in the morning while mum manages the other children, and the reverse in the evening to help with the aftermath of the school day! The longer weekends are for the client to have entertaining days out with her CarePals, this may consist of a walk around the local town centre or a trip to the local park.

The client and her mum are looking for a team of CarePals who can build and establish a bond with her to work best with her long term, they're also looking for a team with the flexibility to increase hours slightly over holiday periods.

The client will need assistance with her personal care, moving and handling, Incontinence care, companionship and gaining access to the local community

The schedule for this position is:

Monday to Friday - 6pm to 7pm

Alternate Saturdays - 9am to 7pm

2 waking nights every other week (10pm to 7am)

A total of 19 hours average per week.

As a dedicated CAREPal you will visit clients to offer support and friendship. You will be their friendly face and companion to support clients with daily activities to enhance their life and well-being. CAREPal very often become trusted friends with their clients, someone that they can easily chat to, discuss things and share thing with, both at home and when out and about.

Here is an example of the services our CAREPal's offer their clients;

  • Companionship - sharing conversation and spending time together

  • Helping with mobility

  • Overseeing medication - prompting client to take their own medication

  • Household chores - help around the home, such as vacuuming and washing clothes

  • Preparing and serving home-made meals

  • Running errands - assisting with tasks such as shopping or picking up prescriptions

  • Personal Care - showering, cleaning and assisting with toileting

  • Accessing the local community - accompanying your client to go shopping, attend events or even pop out for some lunch
