Full Job Description

Permanent, Part time, 22.2 hours per week within the Housing Advice and Assessment Team, working pattern Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

We have a vacant Housing Options Support Officer post within Housing Options Team based at Riverside House.

We are looking for a candidate who enjoys working with customers and have a passion for helping with their housing circumstances and the options available to them. The post is based within a large team of officers, who provide a range of information and advice on housing.

The successful applicant will:-

Provide basic advice to customers regarding their housing options and ensuring accurate information on all housing services of the Council is given.

Deal with customer enquiries and record documentation.

Gather customer information, refer to appropriate officers and to other services.

Assist in the input and verification of all housing applications at the point of submission and to make relevant amendments to housing applications following changes of circumstances.

Receipt and distribute incoming post, process correspondence, and send mail out.

Carry out filing, preparing documents for scanning, photocopying, arranging meetings, diary appointments, taking minutes and processing orders and invoices within agreed procedures.

The team works on a rota basis to deliver telephone, written, electronic, face to face advice at Riverside House in Rotherham.

Excellent communication skills are needed for this role, and you should have experience of working within a customer focused service delivery organisation.

Until 31st March 2026 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded three additional days leave (pro rata for part-time).
