As a HV Design Engineer - Assurance, you will be responsible for the review and assurance of designs on critical national infrastructure projects across the whole lifecycle from development through to delivery. As a key signatory for system design specifications, you'll drive the design assurance on all aspects of network schemes between 400kV and 33kV, with emphasis on transmission level voltages from 132kV.

You'll provide technical guidance and support to project teams, offering expertise in project options analysis, technical tender reviews, and Design Assurance activities. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement updates to procedures, evaluate technical solutions, and support commissioning teams. Essentially you will ensure the projects are delivered to specification in accordance with National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) processes and procedures that deliver the business' regulatory, stakeholder and customer commitments.

The ideal candidate will have specifically designed/reviewed but not limited to areas like equipment layouts, earthing, maintenance access and interlocking on high voltage equipment such as Switchgear (Circuit Breakers, Earth Switches, Disconnectors, Instrument transformers (Current/Voltage), Surge arrestors, Transformers (Super grid Tx, Reactors (Shunt/Series), Quad Booster Tx, Earthing and auxiliary Transformers) Busbars, post insulators etc, seamlessly integrating High Voltage Plant into the Electricity Transmission system.

  • You'll hold a numerate degree or demonstrable experience in a relevant engineering project environment.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of design assurance activities.

  • Working knowledge of relevant national and international standards - British Standards (BS), International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and Electricity Networks Association (ENA)

  • Demonstrable knowledge of CDM Regulations.

  • Using, interpreting, and writing technical specifications and policies

  • Enact an Application Engineer role, applying standards to ensure technical compliance.

  • Strong experience of managing multiple stakeholders / Projects.

  • Desirable: Member of a Professional body with the ability to become chartered.

    A competitive salary of £49,310 - £62,399 - dependent of experience
