IG Specialist

The PTT Sub-directorate will enable and promote public trust in NHS England's custodianship of staff, workforce and patient data. This aligns with the new legal duty of NHS England to have regard to the need to respect and promote privacy of patients and the core principles that underpin NHS England as a safe haven of patient data.
The role of Information Governance Specialist is to provide essential support to the work and mission of the PTT Sub-directorate and to provide leadership and assistance to more junior members of the team.
As an Information Governance Specialist, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an effective service supporting managers and staff across the organisation to increase awareness of Information Governance and embed good practice., The post holder will:
+ Support specialist confidentiality and privacy by design advice on the implementation of the IG legal framework, IG national policy requirements, new Statutory Guidance and organisational standards, policies and controls across internal and external facing NHSE digital, information technology and operational services.
+ Draft IG advice in response to IG Helpline queries received from across the organisation.
+ Support strategic advice to the Freedom of Information (FOI) team on complex requests, internal reviews and ICO investigations.
+ Support work to ensure that IG policies and procedures are embedded in the programmes, directorates, and regions.
+ Assure policies and procedures to ensure the confidentiality, security, and quality of personal and sensitive information, ensuring compliance with legislation, standards, and best practice.
+ Provide assurance on Information Governance and Statutory Guidance compliance through assurance reviews and activity, including in respect of high-risk processing, internal data protection, records management and medical device audits, and audits of data use and sharing, both internal and external to NHS England;
+ Support compliance with the Data Security & Protection Toolkit (DSPT) requirements and support work to co-ordinate and assure the NHSE annual DSPT submission.

The Privacy, Transparency & Trust (PTT) Sub-directorate is a sub-directorate of the Delivery Directorate. Colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend, on average, at least 40% of their time working in-person.

Applicants will commence at the bottom of Band 7 with a full-time starting salary of £43,742, with pay step increases after 2 years' service and 5 years' service.

For posts based in Inner London, the above salaries will include the additional supplement of 20% of basic salary, subject to a minimum payment of £5,132 per annum and a maximum payment of £7,746 per annum., We have policies and procedures in place to ensure that all applicants and employees are treated fairly and consistently.
