Full Job Description

Leigh Primary School is looking to appoint a SENDCo on a permanent basis, part time (2 days/0.4FTE) to take responsibility for the strategic vision and provision for children with SEND and promoting inclusion for all. We are seeking a SENDCo with experience of working with SEND pupils and who can support teachers with high quality inclusive and adaptive teaching practices to meet a range of diverse needs so all children can reach their own potential. This role will also involve tracking, monitoring and co-ordinating interventions for all SEND pupils across the school. You will be dedicated to providing the best educational opportunities for the young people we serve.
You will have the National Award for SEND Co-Ordination or appropriate experience for the role and willing to complete the relevant qualification - Mandatory NPQ for SENCOs from September 2024. You will have excellent organisation skills and up to date knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory policy guidance as set out in the SEND code of practice. You will have strong knowledge of working with external agencies to provide the relevant support needed by pupils with SEND.
The SENDCo will also hold responsibility for children in care and provide the relevant care and support that this group of pupils require.

Leigh Primary is a community school and we value our strong links with our families and community making it a wonderful place to work. Inside school we are like another community within a larger one; we are a friendly, hardworking, supportive and passionate team. We dedicate ourselves to our pupils and raising standards. In particular we take pride in our pastoral support and development of the whole child. We were delighted this was recognised in our recent Ofsted in February 2024.
