Interim Management Accountant

AAUK is currently looking to recruit a senior management accountant, to join the finance team of the UK distribution business division with a turnover of over £400m, based in Bradford.

Reporting to the distribution Financial Controller the candidate will be expected to co-ordinate a team of 3 management accountants to meet reporting deadlines whilst managing their own areas of responsibility.

The Group has a strict structure of monthly and quarterly reporting, and the applicants need to be used to producing work of a high standard to tight deadlines in a rapidly evolving business.

The on-going integration of acquired entities requires a flexible and 'can do' approach to the challenges that this presents and with this brings a great opportunity for the applicant to gain exposure to experience of acquisition accounting and reporting.

Job Specification

• Responsibility for the preparation or review of key balance sheet control account reconciliations, including inventory, inventory provisions, bad debt provisions and rebate (customer + supplier) accruals


• Point of contact and support for management accountants


• Support to the FC in proving information and schedules to internal and external auditors


• Commercial analysis and commentary on revenue and cost variances


• Preparing drill down information to support explanations of variances


• Process journals and other inputs onto the general ledger


• Budget and forecast preparation


• Monthly and quarterly SOX controls and processes


• Other ad-hoc activities as required

• Professionally qualified EG ACA, ACCA, CIMA


• Team player, who is keen to build relationships with colleagues both above and below them in the finance and operational team


• Excel proficiency to a high standard


• Ability to compile, analyse and review data to a high level of accuracy
